So I managed to flash my phone to 2.3.3 with the rom XXJVK.

Ever since my battery life has been terrible. Just last night for example i charged it fully before going to bed and when i woke up this morning it was dead!

Any ideas?
Anyone had the same problem?
Should i roll back to an earlier version?

Thanks

this problem also happened to me after flashing my phone with JVK ROM. I have been resolved this. this is what I've done:

1. I've rooted my phone using the rooted kernel of Chainfire, here's the link to the kernels:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12651359&postcount=6

But before proceeding to download this kernel pls read Chainfire's thread, here's the link:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108

2. Flashing your phone with this kernel+root will give you TWEEK application which can be used for phone's performance tweaks. Just read the  thread in the forum and make sure that you understand it.

3. When your phone is rooted you can install an application called BatteryCalibration, you can download this from the market and it needs root permission to work. Calibrate your battery using this app.

hope this will help you man.

I think flashing a kernel and rooting the phone won't solve the battery drain.
Battery life depends on the apps. running in the background and the settings, depends on the usage.
Battery calibration?
I have tried several method. The best one worked fine for me is the hungarian one.

I charge my phone like this: battery shows e.g. 40 %. I turn off my phone then charge fully up till 100 %. I remove the phone from charger, turn it on and it will show 100% a few minutes, (This is not a calibration.) or simply by standby.

The running services arent the issue. The battery usage shows android os on anything from 60% upwards. Does this give anyone a clearer idea of whats going on?

I feel it may a battery calibration issue. Ill try the suggestions but if anyone has any further ideas id be very grateul

Thanks

ok, my running services are:
settings
drm content
software update
google services
maps
market
sns
swype

anything there you think may be causing this? as we speak android os is at 50%, so pretty low by current standards!

well I will try your method of battery charging, thanks for the idea  Big Grin

but really, the method that I've stated before have solved my problem, now may battery last up to two days... as what is said in the description in the the battery calibration app:

Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated. This program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.

This worked for me  Wink Wink

All my settings are the same as i had on froyo and eclair so i dont think that would have affected it

I stopped all my running services and the android os percentage seems to be dropping. I suppose ill have to wait and see as time goes on.

Are there any services from the list above that would cause such a drain?
There are a couple that i dont understand such as drm content, sns, software update

Thanks everyone for your help so far

yes, software update and maps. I stopped running these. Market, too.
They are eating battery. There is a good app. on the Market. This is "Autostarts".
Grab it and install. It works like "CCleaner" on Windows. Using Autostarts you can set the apps. when to run. I set Maps, Software update, Market not to run by booting. These apps. are running when I let them run.

Try this. I had the same problem and I fix it with this procedure:

1. Charge the battery up to fullest.
 2. Keep it plugged in to charger, and reboot to recovery.
 3. On the recovery, go advanced, wipe battery stats, scroll on to yes BUT Don't wipe them yet. When you're ready, quickly remove the battery cable and push to wipe the battery stats.
 4. Reboot the phone, use normally. Let it run completely out of battery.
 5. Charge the phone back to full. Turn off phone. Charge until it says 100% on the green bar and vibrates for full charge.
 6. The Important Part. Remove the charge cable for 0-0.5 seconds and plug it back in instantly. Let it charge to 100% again. Do this 1-2 times again, so you've done this 2-3 times total.
 7. Reboot to recovery, wipe the battery stats again as on the step 3.
 8. After wiping the battery stats, plug the charger back in the phone.
 9. Reboot to ROM. Keep the cable plugged in. Keep it plugged in for about 30 mins to 2 hrs. Unplug. Should say 100%, mine did for about 40 mins after it depleted onto 99%.

And this is the way you should really gain great battery performance.

I've been on Gingerbread for 3 weeks and battery life is normal.
I have used my SGS for 4 months and have done 4-5 battery calibration process of hungarian methode. Using "bump charging" you mentioned may cause harm in your battery.
I think, battery consumption depends on settings, usage.
