I am no expert like some of you seem to be.

I have a Galaxy S Model GT-I9000M

I just updated last week to "Gingerbread"

I instantly had a problem with battery life.

I didn't add any apps to svae on battery life etc..

I read on a forum somewhere to just simply restart my phone.

I did and the problem went away. .. Or the battery life icon is stuck full LOL

Same problem. Updated to Gingerbread and battery life was carp!
Flashed with JVB ROM and now have excellent battery life with all sync functions working in the background.

I solved this problem and i m impressed how much effective it is!
Follow these steps and you will be surprised with results:

1. backup all data and applications cos u need a soft reset in this way
2. charge your device to 100%
3. turn off your device and wait.
4. hold home / power / volume up
5. when bootup logo appears, release power
6. u will enter default android menu
7. choose clear cache partition
8. when done, choose factory reset
9. When done, choose reboot or it will be rebooted automatically
10. your mobile is now reset and you need to restore your data and backup.

Done! Now i can keep more than 2 days of battery while before it was maximum a day.
It really worked great to me.
