What a nice update. Took out the lag fix while at work then plugged in to Kies when I got home. Kies updated then 2.3.3 build UGKG3 was available for download. I had already updated my Tab so I wasn't expecting any problems or great changes. Gingerbread seems to run a lot quicker. Main difference is there is no 3 button recovery - you simply hold the middle of the volume rocker while pressing the power button which is TONS easier. No root yet AFAIK.

Try the search or check the how to thread before asking a question.

I saw that but don't feel like installing Odin right now. Maybe in a few weeks.

Hi, not an expert but I have a stock gingerbread KG3 (that's waht Kies said) and would like to root. The phone was already rooted under Froyo but after a repair at Samsung office, I got a new mother board  (GPS problems) unroot with stock gingerbread 2.3.3. I read a lot of threads but I'm not sure wich files to download and the overall procedure. I'd like to understand what to do but some technical terms are just out of my knowledge. Thanks

Anyone else noticed the GPS locks faster/better? I had a heck of a time with Froyo (except for the 15 minutes jk4 worked) but now I get usable locks.

What does that even mean HUH? (yes that's the level of knowledge I'm at) I have cleared the cache then tried repopulate with new data but I didn't have to do that and it found me quickly.

How many lines does your gps.conf file contain? Could you take a screenshot about it?
Open Root Explorer and go /etc and find gps.conf, long tap on it and select "Open in text editor". (You may hit "Mount R/W") before.

GPS lock, or lack of it, is my biggest gripe about my SGS.

I've been holding off installing 2.3.3 in the hopes that Bell Mobility will give us 2.3.4 soon-ish so I don't have to do a reset again (assuming a 2.3.3 -> 2.3.4 update would need a reset).
Need to find an idiot proof way of rooting first though.

Why does it take longer for the i9000m to get updates compared to the other i9000 phones?
Other than the 850/1900 bands, is it really that much different?

No, I already did that with Super1Click the other night.

IF I install 2.3.3, I'll need to root it so I can restore my app backups with Titanium Backup.
