Dear all,
where can I find the differences between different versions of firmware updates, like a small version history?
For example what brings new version :

I9000XXJVQ|2.3.4|June 2011
from
I9000XXJVP|2.3.4|June 2011
?
In my opinion, since both of these firmware are leaked versions, there is no documentation on them from Samsung yet, so, you will most probably  not get your question answered anywhere maybe until Samsung officially releases the same through KIES

Just need some clarification.

I have already rooted my phone and installed One Click Lag Fix.  This was after I installed Froyo.  My question is: If I plan on flashing my phone in Odin with 2.3.3, do I still need to load the CF - Root?  Or since I have already rooted, can I just flash with the 2.3.3.  Also, I bought the phone in Thailand but will be moving back to Canada shortly, should I flash with a Canadian version, if so, will this allow me to update using kies in the future?

It depends on the ROM you download: CF-Root... or others.
Yes.
As I know, there isn't any "Canadian version" and you may update via Kies in the future.

Need some help....have some doubts...

My phone is Galaxy S

PDA: I9000XXJPY
PHONE: I9000XXJPY
CSC: I9000OXAJPY
Build Info: 2010. 12

Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9 root@SEP-51 #1

1. I like to update to Gingerbread..which is better ??

I9000XXJVO|2.3.3|May 2011
I9000XXJVP|2.3.4|June 2011
I9000XXJVQ|2.3.4|June 2011 or anything else??

2. what is best ?? 2.3.4 vs 2.3.3 ??I heard that 2.3.4 is not officially...not sure

3. Do I need to update to anything older (like I9000XXJVK etc) before updating directly to 2.3.4 or 2.3.3???

4. what is "CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S I9000" in the first page of this thread??
I have already rooted my phone (using one-click app)...so do I need to use "CF-Root"??

Rule of Thumb is stick with what works in Software and OS alike, this is not a popular answer.

I don't like it either with Android I like to stay updated. So if it were me I would apply the newest

For this you need to know the conception of gingerbread. The first device with Gingerbread was the Nexus S which I loved, the problem was it came with 2.3.2 and this version had a big fault in it where it would randomly shut off while on a call. 2.3.3 was the answer to that bug but it was very very beta.

2.3.4 fixed beta-ness but it still feels a little unpolished (For a lack of a better word).

3. Do I need to update to anything older (like I9000XXJVK etc) before updating directly to 2.3.4 or 2.3.3???

Yes. You need bootloader, you can get it from here.

4. what is "CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S I9000" in the first page of this thread??

When you update you will loose root, not only that SuperOneClick doesn't work on Gingerbread.

Gingerbread is the code name for 2.3.x

Froyo is 2.2.x

Eclairs 2.1.x

Donut 2.0.x

You will notice they increase the codename in Alphabetical order.

Anyway back to your question, yes you will require CF-Root to Root on Gingerbread.

Hope this answers your question.

Peace.

Flash a ROM first, then flash a kernel like CF-Root kernel.
