CF-Root for Samsung Galaxy S I9000

1.Extract CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
2.Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
3.Select  CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar in PDA (ODIN) (DO NOT CHECK REPARTITION)
4.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
5.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
6.When the drivers are installed, click Start.
7.The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
8.You have successfully flashed your phone.

I own an arabic version of Samsung Galaxy S which I would like to change to an unlocked genuine Samsung UK OS.  Do I only need to download the UK OS and load it up into the phone?

Many 10x in advance for the help.

2 days ago I got a Samsung Galaxy S phone, I am very happy with it however I have a question.  The new mobile came with a south arabia rom version, no market icon available and arabic applications.

I am an IT person so I'm quite confident with doing firmware upgrades etc.. however before going ahead I wanted to clarify the following;

1. My phone firmware has the following I9000JXJPE rom with FROYO.JPJPG installed.  Can I just go ahead, download one of the samsung official european 2.2 roms and apply it to my Galaxy S?

2. If not how can I get my android market icon on the desktop and remove all the arabic apps?  Please keep in mind that I have nothing agains arabic culture however since I am european and don't practice the same religion I would prefer if I remove all that staff.

While thanking you in advance for your help I hope to get a replay as soon as possible.

Hi BarosanuXXL, thank you for your prompt reply.  I managed to upload firmware I9000XXJP2 into my phone and it removed all south arabia staff.  The phone seems to be working fine and all the staff is available including market.

I noted that the firmware suggested by you are under a header Speacials: Provider Firmware.  What is the difference between the one I uploaded and the ones suggested by you.  Also now that I have a European rom onto my phone, can use Samsung Kies for future upgrades?

Thank you taking time reviewing my problem.

FoxJr.

P.S.  Kindly note that I updated the firmware before I saw your message don't think I didn't took your advise.

Hey BarosanuXXL,

Thanks for all this info! I am wondering, how do you go about saving any apps you have bought before the reflash? Also, do these roms come with all the Samsung garbage? Or are they stripped to the bones, OS installs?

Dear BarosanuXXL, first of all sorry for not replying to your previous threat but lately I'm really busy studying.  Since last time we spoke as advised I did the xxJP2 update to my SGS however since that updated I noticed that the time is loosing from 2 to 3 minutes everyday.  Pretty weird.  What do you think, on some forums I found that it is a bug but nobody suggested how to fix it.

Later this month once my study assignment is ready I will connect the mobile to kies and try to update it from there maybe there is an update for this issue.  However if you know anything about this please let me know.  In the meantime happy festive season, mine is really happy at the moment with all this study lol.  But eventually it will be better after the 22nd :-)
