I have the Vibrant and I've tried Z4root (which worked on eclai) but after a while it simply takes me to the homescreen. Then I've tried SuperOneClick, which rooted the phone but still won't allow me to use One Click Lag Fix (when I try to use it I have the option to unroot the phone but the option to use the lag fix is unavailable).

Did this happen to anyone? I'de really like to use the lag fix. My phone was faster when I had eclair with the Fix Lag than it is now with froyo.

First install EXT2 Tools from OCLF menu to enable the Lag fix option.

The option to install the EXT2 on OCLF is no available either. The only options available are unroot, alter minfree, change scheduler and check free space.

Usb debugging was enabled and Usb cable was plugged in to the pc.

Tried both temp and permanent root but failed.

based on below info, the ROM build is JPE?

Firmware : 2.2
Baseband: I9000DXJPB
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #1
Build: FROYO.DXJPE

PDA: I9000DXJPE
PHONE: I9000DXJPB
CSC: I9000OLBJPA
Building Info: 2010.12

Yes that Is JPE. I am guessing the Malaysian Build. You need to try SuperOneClick.

As I can see this is what the Malaysians get instead of 2.2.1.

Peace.

Did you download RyanZA's OCLF 2.0? For awhile there was a not version 2 on market. If you downloaded for XDA make sure you got the most up to date apk.
