Found this. Tried it works perfectly. Make sure you use the permanent root if you are going to use the ryanZA lagfix.

Also found out that you need to have your phone in USB debugging mode and plugged into a computer. Although you don't need to use the computer for anything I found that it would get stuck half way through without it being plugged in on USB debugging mode.

Anybody noticed since rooting and installing lagfix that you cannot use the ear-piece to talk through? I mean, Before if I m playing a song and want to make a call, the music automatically cuts off thus activating the call. The same works if you get a call. The music shuts off and the telephone rings so you know someone is calling. Not any more. Is this a bug or is there a work around for this?

Goto Setting -> Sound -> just re-click the ringtone you want.

For some reason this gets hay wired.

Peace.

hi,

i've just rooted yesterday using z4root.

1st attempt with all apps installed and apps killer running in background. the z4root just couldn't stop running... so unsuccessful

2nd attempt - factory reset, then z4root. it takes abt 1~2min, then rebooted and i get the super user icon.

really straightforward. and it seems that my battery last longer now after rooting...

one question:

Do i still need to install ryanZA OCLF (one click lag fix) which i can find in the market?

thanks in advance...

Rooting will not make your battery last longer, I say your new found battery life is due to the Hard reset.

as for RyanZA, If you want to Do the lagfix then go for it, other than that there is no reason to get it.

Thanks for Sharing your rooting experiance. Repped.  Cool

Peace.

I tried Z4root 1.3.0 but failed.  It always jump back to the HOME screen after the message of "Aquiring root shell...".

Tried reset to factory setting and redo also failed.

Firmware : 2.2
Baseband: I9000DXJPB
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #1
Build: FROYO.DXJPE

Please help.

Thanks

Make sure usb debugging is enabled (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Usb Debugging)

Then make sure that the Usb cable is plugged in to the pc.

Now press permanent root.

Z4root does not work on Jpy Rom. To check your Rom build goto setting -> about phone. It will be the last 3 letters.

Peace.

Usb debugging was enabled and Usb cable was plugged in to the pc.

Tried both temp and permanent root but failed.

based on below info, the ROM build is JPE?

Firmware : 2.2
Baseband: I9000DXJPB
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #1
Build: FROYO.DXJPE

PDA: I9000DXJPE

Yes that Is JPE. I am guessing the Malaysian Build. You need to try SuperOneClick.

As I can see this is what the Malaysians get instead of 2.2.1.
