you are a star. thank you for all your help!

I have downloaded the firmware + 'all csc'(??) and also Odin + PIt.

Presumably, i install odin+pit, extract the fimrware and 'all csc'(??)

hook up the phone as per instructions...run odin and load the firmware into the PDA, csc(??) into csc and flash.

Just one question?
At the start of this thread it states that make sure the network lock is [off] while mine is [on] - will this make any odds?

many thanks for your input:)

To Unlock.

All you need is the Firmware and the Pit File.

Just Select Re-Partition

Select The Firmware to PDA and the 0512 as PIT.

Click Start wait a few minutes and your done.

Peace.

it all went well using 2.2 then i had to reboot & i launched the unlock app  and clicked to enter code 12345678 that it does auto....that worked but as i said on next reboot=no signal. so i had to restore the backup folder which left me with an locked sim. which means i cant flash:( or debrand.

ok... tried to unlock sim and ckecked to see if it was unlocked. instead of adding code i went straight for step 3.
Then try to flash using odin.

this was the result
<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)..
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/007> Can't open the serial(COM) port.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Now I had the phone connect normal udb and not debugging is this correct nor was it in flight mode? Am I missing something? or should i add the csc (is that right?...lol...maybe it scs).

persnonally, i feel that the unlock of the sim has not gone to plan. Thsat if I reboot it will have no signal. Any thoughts?

Ok 1 problem was that the phone was not in download mode.

So I flashed the phone. But now it appears to get stuff on the 's' for samsung screen. Followed by 3 buzzez and then the screen goes blank and the 'menu key' and the 'return' key stay lit. followed by other buzzez.

not sure if I have bricked my phone:(

Ill try a hard reset and see what happens.

OK.

So now you have a locked sim.

OK this is not good, it needed to be in Download Mode.

Ok So you flashed it again. this is all done and the phone is still locked right?

You need to check with
- Check Simlock and Network lock is OFF *#7465625#

hardc reset produced 0 result.

tried to flash again...and flashing appeared to get stuck.... I fear the worst now.

please help.

OK can you get into the phone at all now?

If you can't then Please goto Samsung they will flash the default Firmware back under warranty just don't tell them you were doing all this. They won't bother checking what you did.

Because phone needs to be unlocked, to proceed.

Peace.

HI there again... early this morning I tried flashing again as the phone was stuck on the samsung screen and would buzz...then buzz three more times. So I tried another firmware- one that was listed as a NEW EURO one... this time I had to load three files - the pit the PDA and CSC file.

i think I had all the right ones in place and began the flash process, when it goto to the 'boot screen' (Blue writing or red) - etc instead of rebooting using that command...i took the battery out as suggested in above and afore-mentioned thread. Then I flashed again, this time removing the partitianing check box.

I got back to the root boot menu and this time clicked on 'reset' and it worked.. I have a new firmware. But an unknown CSC file. I have FROYO 2.2 build 2010:12.

however, Im no overly happy with this version as the samsung apps are limited, the market place doesn't download any apps. There is no 'data' button on the top draw and it's a little disappointing on the whole; but at least I dont have orange garbage all over the phone this time Angel

So I think I'm going to try and flash again but with the 2011 version.

Glad to see you got it to work.

When you say no Data, do you mean Internet or Cellular Signal?

For Internet you need to Enter it in Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Mobile Network -> APN.

Make sure it's not Empty

Peace.

on my last firmware (prior to all this rooting attempts) I had a 'data' switch. on the top draw. I could just pull it down and click the button when roaming just like you can with network and gps.

How can I get the market app to work as I cant download the busybox etc so I can change the firmware as my sim is back to locked.

Also, what am I supposed to do with the CSC file - as on my phone it currently says 'unknown'. I'd like to get my phone onto the EURO Jan 2011 version as opposed to the dec version.

Factory reset doesnt work either

The one thing that concerns me is that the rooting process never seemed to be completed - it said pass on odin. And it was only by chance that I tried the factory reset which worked.

Once again, thank you so much for your help:)
