Yo,

No, I'm not flooding this forum with useless topics, for my questions i don't find easy and direct answer in google so i came gere again:
I'm wondering, what exactly the root gives to you that can be better than the commom use of the cell phone? it is really needed? what you lost when you root your device. OK, the SGS is more than a cellphone, agreed, but i have my own for  3 months now and no need of rooting it.

What that link doesn't mention is if Samsung finds out if your phone was rooted they void your warranty.

note key term being "IF".

I have not heard of any cases yet so keep  Laugh ing

Thanks guys, still thinking about do it or not, i use linux in my desktop (looks like more a workstation than a desktop) because i need all the flexibility that linux give to me, but in my cellphone when i just need that it work when i push the button... i really don't want to be going up and down to find a fix that make my sgs work.

But i'm still thinking about do it or not.

Am a linux user myself. What distro are you using?

Btw root is like getting sudo. I mean it is sudo.

Imagine using your machine without sudo, same thing for the phone, well I guess the market app has root privilege.

The major benefit for me is the market enabler and lag-fix. My region Market sucks, there is nothing good on it. So I needed to root. Lag-fix is secondary like if I didn't know about it I could stay without it.

Again your phone, your choice.  Cool

Like I said, are there people out there with unrooted phones? Root + one click lag fix + set cpu = 1980 mhz quadrant standard results. Fast.

I am not sure what you mean. HUH?

Gingerbread runs on EXT4, it doesn't have the same problem as the i9000. i9000 runs on the RFS file format.

Gingerbread doesn't even support RFS. In layman's terms you won't need OCLF in gingerbread.

Peace.

OK, how does this work? How or where do you access other markets? Also can someone give a link to how to change the browser cache files to that of the external SD card instead of the internal card? Thanks
