Hey guys,I am posting a link below. Its called a "Super One Click" Rooting method. Its designed/developed by XDA developers so all credit goes to them. Give it a read and tell it I should root my Galaxy S. I have to apply One click lag fix. Smile

I've tried several 2.2 root update.zip files, OneClick etc.  None work on the official 2.2 I9000ZSJPE / FROYO.ZSJPD build.

I always get:
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Guess they changed the signature.  Anyone find a working root?

@ kaeson,

Please use the "Search" tool, on top of every page of this Forum, before starting a new topic.

Please DO NOT double post.

To enter into recovery mode, press and hold the Volume UP, Home and Power buttons. Not the Down button.

I just upgraded to the official 2.2 and I can confirm that SuperOneClick V1.5.5 works like a charm.

The official link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682, has instructions, but ignore the comments about Turning USB Debugging OFF and ON - the Galaxy S does not allow you to change the USB settings while it is connected.

I simply turned USB Debugging ON and ran SuperOneClick.

I am in the US. I have the galaxy s on at&t. I was wondering if someone could tell me if rooting the phone is 100 percent safe. I am tired of all the bloatware on my phone and would like to get rid of it. I dont care for froyo since it seems to not want to be pushed to US customers. Could someone please inform me on this question and help me out. ( also does rooting the phone change any of the features or the way the phone reacts.) Is the phone the same after rooting other than having access to root. Thnx.   ::::Thank you Omnian for your response. Is there a special version of the root update for the galaxy s on at&t in US.

Anything that involve altering/modifying the system/firmware will never be 100 percent safe, but I'd rooted 2 devices without any encounter. 1 is mine own and the other is a display set in SSC.

Everything else will remain the same.

I was a little apprehensive about rooting my phone, but it went without a hitch. SuperOneClick makes it 'idiot' proof. After that I was like, why did I root my phone, so I went ahead and flashed to Froyo with Cognition ROM...and wow, what a freaking difference. My SGS flys now!! Highly recommended, but not for the faint at heart.

I detailed my experience on my blog:
http://www.missiondesign.net/yikes/index.cfm/2010/11/8/Samsung-Captivate--Root-Froyo

Use at own risk.

Can someone explain to me the benefits to rooting and is there any downsides(other than the warranty)?

I looked on line, the main reason seems to be tethering, but I can do that out of the box.

Cheers
