Morning,

Ok.. here was the problem.
The problem was that although superuser was on the phone and although busybox said the phone had been rooted. Superuser was not working.

here is what I did - and the first bit may not essential.

I went into download mode and i fired up super1click. told it to root - it didn't go anywhere. got past the first to statement and then it was waiting for the phone. So i took the  battery out and replaced it, turned the phone on and as it was booting up super1click began it's work. It rooted the phone again. when the phone booted superuser immediately began it's work. asking to allow busybox and titanuim and OCLF.

I ran the quadrant benchmark and the results was my phone was twice as fast as before with a score of 1800.
Of course, i am really pleased with this. and almost tempted to just leave it now I have it working...lol.

I want to thank you so much for all your time and effort in helping me. You didn't have to but you did. you are a real blessing to people. so thank you so much. if you hadn't found the csc file for me to flash, market would have continued to refuse to work.

I'm now faced with a choice. Do I stick with this firmware or go for the latest but after it is flashed and leave the phone for 10-15 minutes and let it buzz away on the screen with the big S instead of removing the battery.

Grats Lisa,

So your phone is now unlocked right?

If it is then don't worry about the buzzing it shouldn't happen.

You may like to fiddle with Darky's Rom

Peace.

The sim lock is still on at the moment, as I switched off the computer after having the phone rooted last night, which is fine so long as I stay with the current firmware. But it's lightning fast - I am so amazed at the speed! The actual score comes out now at 1947 as opposed to the 946 benchmark with the orange bloated firmware and then the Samsung firmware.

So if I did flash for the latest firmware - the Jan2011 version I must just let it stay on the giant S for as long as it takes? I don't want to go through all that trouble again...lol. Trying to get market working etc. One thing i did notice was that the 'samsung apps' only has 9 apps in it. With the original firmware I had 21 - that's strange.

Would u recommend 'darky's' rom then?

i'm back:)

ah...ic

ill see if there are any videos out there. It does seem to be a popular rom. Will it slow down the phone or use more battery power than usual?

So is darky's ROm gingerbread 2.3? Isn't that what runs on the nexsus 2?
King charles seem to indicate that he wasn't too keen. He said It was laggy.
Think I'll stick with what I have for the moment.
With 2.2.1 is rooting and option to get a similar kind of speed?

Yes Gingerbread is only for Nexus S as of now, but Darky gets you the look and feel of Gingerbread.

Which after using Gingerbread I liked Darky Rom better.

Could you explain a little why you prefer gingerbread. I haven't actually seen gingerbread in action and I have never held the nexus 2. So if you could describe what benefits there are or what you prefer that would be helpful. It might help in my decision to flash with that rom or not.

thanks IronSingh.

Morning,

Thanks for the video - lol... that is one better than typing Angel

It looks very similar to froyo or am I missing something.
It looks like superuser is already installed as well as vodoo (is that the lag fix?)
The battery is different but everything else seems similar to me.

Will gingerbread come to the galaxy s?

Oh and is 2.2.1 rootable?

I have to go out now - but I'll take another good look at darky's Rom later when I get back.

Thank you
xx

Well it is a souped up 2.2.1 with 2.3 look and feel.

At the end of video look at the long power press window.

Peace.
