Today I have the same problem with my Galaxy S as you darren (I am also in Sweden). Crying

First, I have never rooted my phone, only updated a couple of times from Kies over the last 6 months or so. Yesterday, there was a new firmware on Kies so I did the upgrade. It went well and my phone started up ok. In fact, I was really impressed by the upgrade, my phone was working better than it ever had!

Last night, the battery had drained and the phone shut itself off. I plugged it in when I went to bed and this morning... exact same problem. Starts up as far as the first tone, then the crash vibrations start. Screen goes black, the menu and back buttons light up at the bottom, and it sadly lies there and vibrates forever.

Now, just as darren describes, I can't enter recovery mode either. Pressing any combinations of the buttons and the phone always starts to the melody then crashes.

Have tried exactly as stated:
- volume up
- home button
- power on
- Samsung screen: release power button (still holding volume up and home)
- ... no menu, just the now annoying start melody!

Darren, did you ever get this sorted out??

I'm stuck. Crying Any help is appreciated.

keep trying!

It should be volume up (it is on mine) however it may be volume down on yours at least I have heard some people saying this.

i cannot understand why this is happening with some people.  very strange.

Hmm this looks like a shitty Kies Update.

Goto Samsung's Service Center and make em re-flash your phone.

Peace.

Hi rofitk,

try getting "Download mode" when your phone is ON.
keep pressing Volume down +Home+Power buttons.
What happens?

Hi,

1. Is your phone rooted?
2. Is your phone unlocked?
3. does the 3 buttons combo work on your phone?

As I mentioned in my explanation:
1. I have never rooted my phone, only official updates via Kies
2. Phone is unlocked.
3. As I also mentioned, no, none of the combos work on the phone. I have tried every possible sequence, combination, etc. Can't get into recovery or download modes.

I've contacted Samsung 2 times already via support site, but they still haven't responded. I'm getting way more response in this forum!

Thanks for all comments! Happy

Physically go to them and tell them wtf.

They will reflash on the spot or say an hour or two, just make sure you goto a service center, not somewhere they will have to ship it to the head office and get it done there.

Peace.

Hi, I just registered to Samsung Galaxy S Forum. I have a MetroPCS Galaxy cellphone, and my cellphone has been randomly acting strange. Last night, my phone drained out of battery, so I proceeded to plug it into the charger. The next morning, I found it 100% charged so I unplugged it and tried to turn it on. Once it turned on, it showed the screen locked. I unlocked it, and checked my notifications on the top of the screen, it showed a glimpse of it and then, shut off, and restarted again. It's been repeating the same, over and over, again, nonstop. One of the notifications read "Modem Crashed". I've been doing research on what that means and how to fix it. Can't find any solution. I tried the combination : (Hold down Volume/up/down, Home, & Power), etc. And it didn't work. How many times do you think I need to do it? Or how long will it take? I'm desperate for help  Crying Answers are appreciated...Thanks...

P.S. I dont see any digging droid.

I tried getting into Recovery Mode multiple times, and nothing is working. I also tried Volume Down instead of Up, and it just proceeds to its original problem of restarting. If I take my phone to a Service Center to which its company belongs to, and they format the phone into Recovery Phone, will I lose my memory?

Very likely. It's not like you can do any better as is.

You will lose contacts, messages, apps and settings.

Your music, pictures and documents will stay safe.

Peace.

Okay, that's fine, but do the original apps that came with the phone stay? And will, only the additional apps I downloaded get deleted? And its still possible, to download them again? Sorry for all these questions. Just a little worried. But, you've been a big help, so I thank you for that.

Orignial Apps, ya they stay or rather they come back.

The other apps you have will come back if you have the backup enabled.

If you haven't they will need to be downloaded manually from memory.

Ask away, I am not complaining.

Peace.
