Which one of custom ROMs do you want to flash:
Darky, Rom Kitchen, Insanity, CM7, GALNET MIUI, etc?

Hi Sas,

I also want to install a custom rom.

Please suggest which one is best among listed above.

I am currently using stock DDJV9 rom (got update through Kies).

If it is not possible to install custom rom due to this firmware then please suggest which firmware is required.

I have XXJVK (which i was using before official update of GB), XXJVQ downloaded.

I request you to help me with complete tutorial as I have formatted my phone almost 40-50 times within three months trying different roms but only stock, so I dont want to end up with false settings.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest that you flash Darky_v10.1_EE.
It's a very good ROM and easy to install.

Hi saszseb,

I have installed the Darkys rom , and its so smooth.
Thanks for your advice.

I have done the installation as per the instructions given in the video from the link given by you.
In that video, it has been advised to disable voodoo lagfix before flashing rom. I have done the same and flashed the rom. Now please tell me that whether voodoo lagfix  has to be enabled again or not?

Please advice.

thanks.

It's up to you. You can enable it. For this do you use "Voodoo Control"?
You can enable it in the CWM,too.
Pls. read this.

I also wanted to know how is MIUI's performance and how to install it?
And is it possible to use voodoo with it? (It's just awesome.)

MIUI is based on CyanogenMod7. These ROMs has nothing to do with Samsung ROMs.
This is an other world.
The quadrant is on these ROMS is 1800-2100. This is the base. You can reach 5000-8000,too.
These ROMs are marvellous.

Hi saszseb,

I have installed the Galnet MIUI 5.1.
But problem is that it shows as Galnet MIUI 5 under about phone.
Will you please provide the link to download the latest MIUI i.e. 5.1 as I am not happy with video recorder of Galnet 5.0, Its the worst i have ever seen.

Thanks....

Yes. It's a small "bug", I know. The 5.2 has been released. I'm thinking of trying it out because of some problems.

I Have tried 5.2 but the problem still exists.

Its UI has the best eyecandy but still basics are basics!!(Video playback is not up to the mark.)

Switched back to darky 10.1 and installed crysis theme.

It looks good but not as good as MIUI.

Hi saszseb,

I am new to the android world so go easy in me Smile I am using Samsung Galaxy I9000,
Firmware version : 2.3.3
Baseband version : I9000DDJV5
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDJV9

Can you tell me if installing a custom ROM will void my warranty as I am still in my warranty period. Also can I regain the warranty later by removing the custom rom?

Also Which ROM would you suggest for me? I am thinking of Darky's ROM as it has got good reviews.

Also I read somewhere that if I upgrade my Firmware to the leaked 2.3.4 then my warranty does not get void. Is that true.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Warranty: I don't know how it goes in India.
If you brick your phone, your warranty may be void.
Darky's ROM is a good idea.

Thanks for the reply. Also is it possible to go from a Custom Rom back to the stock rom?

If yes is it possible for the company to know that the device was rooted once?
