Hello,

I have just installed Darky's ROM 9.1 extreme edition, the installation instruction were very clear and precise so the entire process of flashing and installing Darky's ROM went without any incident, plus everything seems to be working smooth and fine yet and I hope it stays that way Wink Wink  BUT my Quadrant Score is just 1166  Crying

Any ideas on why such low scores ???

Before upgrading to Darky's ROM  I was on Official Samsung Update thru Kies - Andriod 2.2, I9000DDJP6

maybe you have to activate voodo. Im not sure and Im no expert but im sure I have read that somewhere. I have read so much about flashing I have started confusing myself. lol.
Oh and did you download the configuration file from Market? I think that has an option to active voodo

Lagfixes usually boost up your Quadrant score. I don't think Quadrant is precise anyways. I used to get 1900 with a lagfix enabled. I've stopped using a lagfix for now because the ROM I am using is faster then the rom I got 1900 with lagfix enabled. Right now I am getting around 1200 but my phone is faster.

Phone is with out any questions faster and more responsive... but just that Quadrant Scores are on lower side :p
about the app thru which one can Enable/Disable Voodoo (Reboot Button on the Market) shows Voodoo Exists and is ON...
Just curious why Quadrant score is Low, it reminds me of my Grades... Sticking out tongue

Quadrant is not Accurate.

It was written for a very biased test.

I Found Darky very responsive but quadrant was not giving me a high score.

So I dug up on it, I found that the Quadrant app was written specifically for Qualcomm or more commonly known for their line of processors SnapDragon.

Samsung's HummingBird out performs SnapDragon on many real life tests.

But Quadrant seems to indicate that the snapDragon is faster.

I can't take such a benchmarking utility seriously and you shouldn't either.

Peace.

Hey there  - I'm pretty new to all this having soft bricked, wiped 4 times over and messed with Eclair, Froyo 2.2 and 2.2.1 - and now using Darky's ROM - it's amazing I've even got a working phone... Lisa is correct, the score does get a lot better if you run the Voodoo lagfix... having installed Darky's yesterday (twice over!) my Quadrant score was pretty poor showing the Galaxy S a lot slower than the Nexus One 2.2+, Droid & Evo.  I ran the Voodoo lag fix (that already came with Darky's -  just booted into the recovery menu and applied both fixes) - It's pretty clever stuff - even talks to you telling you what it's doing lol.

My score since the lagfix was applied now comes in at a cool 1560 beating the Nexus One by quite a lot!.  However, as IronSingh points out - I don't think it's all that accurate.. the phone is lightening fast!, thats all I can say!

Hey Lisa

I'm pretty pleased with it - after the initial woes I had getting it up and running (had to wipe and start again after stupidly restoring software using MyBackUp Root that I had stored from the stock Froyo)

It seems slick and very quick! - especially once I ran the Voodoo lagfix and the Voodoo partition... The animations are nice - I'm assuming this is a close match to how Gingerbread behaves...

No regrets so far!!! Did have LauncherPro installed on Froyo which I did like and it worked well - I know I could put that onto Darky's... but have held off for now...

I do like the built in BLN Control app - it lights up the buttons at the bottom whever you have a sms or an email drop in so I know there is a message waiting - very neat! (I missed that from having used a HTC Legend which flashed the notification light..

So far so good!... So are you using Darky's Lisa?

im not using darky's yet. I jjust upgraded to 2.2.1- jan 11. So i think i will stick with this for a little while. having said that, curiosity is building as to why so many people go after dark'y Rom. It must be phenomenal.

I think I am fairly satisfied with 2.2.1 at the moment but I did come from Symbian smart phone - the 1st to try and counter the iphone - which turned out rubbish. So for me, this is a massive improvement, it's immense, powerful and goes like crazy. I'm loving it.
Curiosity is a weakness for me though, and if it builds long enough, Ill think to hell with it and install it....lol.
I do wonder what all the fuss is about...so watch this space...lol

And you know what curiosity did don't you! Kiss)

Well I can safely say as long as you follow "all" the instructions the upgrade is fairly pain free - I took the hard way around and nearly totally f**ked my phone up - Sunday wasn't a great day! LOL - but once i started again and READ everything... I don't think you will be disappointed...

Unfortunately for me - I seem to wanna try the next best thing everytime and I can't see me staying on this for too long till i decide to try yet another ROM if something new comes out!.. guess curiosity gets the better of me too... I think the learning curve I had by nearly bricking the handset taught me loads though!

(PS.. sorry guys, this has turned into a full blown convo! lol)

It is good that you sharing your experience, it will definitely help someone when deciding to make the leap.

If we didn't have such convo's it would seem like we are inhuman (robots), who just discuss how to get the next best thing.

Repped.

Peace.

4 Firmware's on a shiney new handset? blimey lol - Mine's off ebay so wasn't too worried about wiping etc and possibly bricking it...

Just be careful and follow all instructions carefully! - you'll be fine

To be honest its more the themed features that are nice about Darky's - my personal experience the speed of the handset I can't really see the difference from Froyo 2.2.1 latest stock with RyanZA's OCLF 2.0 lagfix applied and the current Darky's I now have...  Both were rooted and both just as quick as each other...

Qaudrant score was highest when I had it on Froyo 2.2 (before i updated to 2.2.1).  Have two handsets in the household mine running Darky's and the other using 2.2.1 with OCLF and the scores are pretty much the same

Overall its just a preference thing till we get the big Gingerbread!!!! and I'm sure we'll be too curious to not let that slip by!....

I'm sure within a month or so I'll be tempted to change ROM again - glutten for punishment.... must be a thrill (very sad!) could think of better thrills myself lol

Well after using for only a few days - I'm getting concerned.

Battery life is pretty poor on Darky's ROM.... love everything else about this and working great but noticed yesterday while working and using wifi pretty much for 6 hours or so on and off (checking mail mostly) battery was dead by 5pm (unplugged charger about 8.15am on full charge)

Have dug around some forums and checked out some possible fixes - like the wifi issue - seems its not done any good so far....

Can't really use the phone for a full day working if I'm travelling, so not a good sign from using it a few days!
