Try this:
download xxjvr-CWM3.zip from hier and flash it in CWM.
What will happen?

tried this but still didn't work.
flashing to darkys rom 9.5 extreme edition but still baseband is UNKNOWN
my current version now

firware 2.2.1
kernel 2.6.32.9 ficeto@vpn # dark_core 1.4
Build number darkys v9.5XWJS8
Baseband ver. UNKNOWN

when I press *#1234# this is what I got

PDA: I9000XWJS8

You should do a clean install:
- backup your data using Titanium Backup.
- copy your internal SD card to the PC.
- umount and remove your external SD card
- do a full factory reset: dial *2767*3855# >>reboot. Your internal SD card will be wiped.
- flash the stock XXJPU ROM via Odin or Heimdall. >> Reboot.
- factory reset.
- grab Darky Configurator from Market.
- read the guide!

XXJPU contains:
- I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar.md5
- MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar.md5
- GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar.md5
Have you flashed all the 3 files via Odin3_1.7 or 1.3?
I don't think you did.

If you untick repartition>>>don't use PIT!
If you tick repartition>>>use PIT!
I don't use repartition and PIT by flashing.
I used to use it from Gingerbread to Android 2.3.5.
From Gingerbread to Gingerbread there is no need to use pit and repartition.
