Hi IronSingh,

getting Darky' ROM was the simpliest way for me:
1.Before starting the process I charged the battery fully up (100 %).
2.I flashed the SpeedMod kernel using Odin.(It took 8 seconds).
3.Installed the *.zip file in CWM. (2-3 Min.)
After rebooting I made settings. Battery was on 89%.
I had only a small problem:surfing on the net and than tap on "back", I got a black screen for a while and than got the homescreen. I checked voodoo in CWM. It was not enabled. I set it.
After reboot I haven't had any problem. The net is fast. Battery life is normal.

yes, the apps. you've downloaded will be deleted and you'll get some preinstalled apps. (calendar, Email, Gmail,  etc.). After upgrade you need to root your phone using SuperOneClick. Your APN settings must be done manually. You probably can download the settings from your Sim card carrier (e.g. Vodafone).

Saszseb.

i called my carrier network for the APN and they said they already configured my fone before. i said ive reset my fone so i need another settings and they said i have to call samsung for the APN settings. i wonder y samsung???

Your carrier is making an excuse for not knowing what APN is.

Tell them you want the Internet settings for your phone. That will ring a bell.

If they don't have it for the SGS say you want the one for the Iphone. Tell them you want the settings not a SMS with settings.

Peace.

Let me know how it goes.

Tell me what they say, if they are not willing, ask them to give it to an actual technician, not someone reading off a flowchart.

To test if the person knows what he/she is talking about ask them what is APN, maybe ask them what CPU stands for or RAM.

APN is the acronym of Access Point Name which is basically settings for Internet or MMS.

CPU is the acronym of Central Processing Unit, it is the main Processor usually has the biggest fan on it, it is the brain of the machine. They Exist in Computers, laptop, Phones, cars, etc.

RAM is the acronym of Random Access Memory, Everything processed by the CPU usually comes from the RAM. RAM is much faster then the hard drive, when you click on anything it is sent to the RAM first so the CPU may work on it with the best efficiency.

Ask him/her these questions, and depending on how well he/she answers you can gauge the ability of the person who you are talking to.

As you are a girl or at least your nick suggests so, screaming may help. I find it very effective when a girl does this, I use my sister when my ISP doesn't help me I supply the questions she screams them out. Ha it's super fun, poor operators though. You need the operator to be a male though :p

Peace.

Can I read the APN data from the phone? I think I have found it by going to Settings/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names/ then touch the name of the access point - has proxy details, port, MMC, MNC authentication type etc.

Um that means you Apn is set and operable.

It's different for different operators and regions.
