As Per Lisa's Recommendation to Post a sticky for the Key Combos.

Download Mode: This is a Samsung Exclusive mode. It was designed to serve the Service Centers, but it has been a godsend to hackers of the device. It lets you easily flash onto the device in a much safer manner then would be possible.

To Enter Download Mode on the Samsung Galaxy S:

  • Switch your phone off. To confirm Remove the Battery.
  • Now Press and HOLD the following Keys in the same order: First Volume Down, Second Home Key, and Lastly The Power Button.
  • Keep the Buttons Held until you see the phone Light up, then Let go off the power button, but keep the Volume and Home Keys Pressed.
  • Once you see a Droid digging and the Test "DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE TARGET", Let go off all the buttons.

Recovery Mode: This is a Mode more popular for it's ability to let you do a Hard reset. Thats what most user's will know it for but there are Custom Recovery Modes available to let you do more things than the Stock Recovery Mode.

To Enter Recovery Mode:

  • Switch your phone off. To confirm Remove the Battery.
  • Now Press and HOLD the following Keys in the same order: First Volume UP, Second Home Key, and Lastly The Power Button.
  • Keep the Buttons Held until you see the phone Light up, then Let go off the power button, but keep the Volume and Home Keys Pressed.
  • Once you see a menu with the caption Recovery Mode on the Top let go of all the buttons.

Peace.

Is it the method to Restore the rooted phone for company settings before claiming for warranty ?  Will this work for Samsung Galaxy GT-I9003?

How did you do this?
To get to Recovery mode:
1. turn off your phone and wait 1 min.
2. press and hold "Volume up" then press and hold "Home" then press and hold "Power".
3. When the white Samsung logo appears, release all the 3 buttons!
If it doesn't work, the 3 button combo must be fixed.

There is another Method but I am not sure of it's effectiveness in 900X

Please Try the Following Step By Step:

  • First Turn Off the Device and Remove the Battery
  • Press and Hold both Volume Up and Volume Down Keys
  • While still holding the Keys Enter the Battery into the Phone

This Method has been effective in the GT-9000i and Nexus S.

Peace.
