Anyone have an idea to unlock the bootloader? Yes the bootloader has a lot to do with Rooting. (HTC anyone?) You lock a bootloader you can not root unless you like going the real difficult route sometimes. There are some ROMs without bootloader. Why is it important? If you are on a Gingerbread based custom/stock ROM and want to flash cyanogenMod, therefore you need Froyo bootloader, but you have a Gingerbread one.
