I had an accident involving my SGS and a 20 lbs Dumbbell.

Jefit is a hazard to my phone.

When I let the dumbell fall to the ground and heard the Cracking sound. I was thinking ahh w/e.

Then I was reaching for my phone to Enter the Rep/Weight I noticed my phone was not where I left it then searching for it I saw where the dumbbell landed. The phone was face down and the back case had come flying off.

Now I drop my phone on a daily basis so, my initial reaction was unworried.

Then I simply put the case back on, and flipped the phone to assess the damage. I flinched for one min when I saw the crack on the screen.

funny thing is I was thinking of the spaghetti marshmallow save I finally reached level 24.

So now, I am thinking of getting another SGS or Nexus S? or maybe the new droid.

This was supposed to be a temp until a new Meego device but it has grown on me.

So let's see.

I will be heading to get the Nexus S, as it is Google based so it will get all the updates direct from google.

Don't worry I will stay active on this forum for a long time to come.

Peace.

Ok this is rather annoying The Nexus S is not released in Kuwait.

What is up with that.

I am sure it's a marketing Strategy they probably want to clear their Galaxy S Stock first.

Well, I am looking for a nexus S if someone can buy it and send it to me, I am willing to do a Western Union Transaction.

Please PM with details, shipping via FedEx only please.

I have already contacted Ebay and I am waiting for responses.

Peace.

Bye bye SGS, GYM accident

This phone was a real trooper. It came into this world probably woke up in some processing plant with Some technician doing some quality control and checking if the device works and passes inspection (if they do that).

Then once packaged it traveled in Scruffy container across the Chinese and Indian Ocean.

Where it must have been unloaded in Dubai from there it would have had to be reshipped to Kuwait up the Arabian/Persian Gulf (Politically Iran calls it Persian, Arabs call it Arabian, it's funny Google Maps doesn't have a label).

Then It went through more loops and holes to reach the Shop got it from only to be demolished by a 20 Lbs Dumbbell

It will be missed. (for 7 days at least)

My Samsung Galaxy S
R.I.P. (Rest in Pieces)
2010 (Nov) - 2011 (Jan)

Peace.

Nah I didn't try but on previous experience I would say it would be good as the new version is essentially the same.

Thanks for the news, it looks awesome.

Too bad I can't try it.

I wasn't expecting v9.0 so soon, especially since v8.1 was just released.

but Yeah looks promising do tell me how it is.

Peace.

Sorry to read about your accident.

Nexus S is a good phone, comes with Gingerbread, but you do know that it does not have an external memory card slot.

Let us know how it perform when you get your hands on it.  Wink Wink

Ouch!

But, hey just look at the bright side, at least it fell on your phone and not your foot.

Ouch!

But, hey just look at the bright side, at least it fell on your phone and not your foot.

I was laying down on my back I couldn't have dropped it on my feet unless I tried to, but I don't know about flinging weights around in the air.

Thing is I forgot to place it back on the other bench after entering my Reps. So I assumed it was at the other bench.

Strange it seems gorilla glass doesn't protect it.

Gorilla Glass is strong, but not indestructible.

20 lbs is heavy after 3 sets of Flies.

and then letting starting to let it go from about table height it's is almost accelerated with your body weight.

It would have been like a missile launch from a trajectory angle of 45% from the other side of the bench and then peaking at the parabolic curve to start it's decent.

Only to hear the crack sound.

It is almost like taking a hammer to it.

Sorry to read about your accident.

I know. but tbh I never used my memory Card, so I don't think I will miss it much.

Something I did find strange is that the Nexus S has only 2.1 EDR Bluetooth compared to the Galaxy S 3.0

Could it be that the experimentability of the new 3.0 specs was driving the OS mad? Just a thought.

Hope you get your new phone ahead of time and glad to here you'll still be here. Your background knowledge is really helpful and I always read your replies just to learn stuff Smile

Yey! Galaxy S patriotism!
To bad Nexus S has lack of technology comparing to Galaxy S GT-I9000.
Not sure why they have motto in Google Nexus website “The latest hardware meets amazing software”
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3115&idPhone2=3620

To me my next phone should be double features from Galaxy S GT-I9000
-   Dual processor processing.
-   sAMOLED2
-   8MP back camera
-   3MP front camera
-   Internal memory 32GB
-   RAM 1GB
So I guess Samsung Galaxy S 2 GT-I9100 is my next phone :p
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3115&idPhone2=3621

But still rumored.

3MP front camera is very very silly.

I hope they don't do that.

a 3MP camera in today infrastructure will not work. It will lag the whole 3G call, even if you use Wifi, you have to transmit more data.

It may work in the US, but many countries are lagging behind where Edge is still the best option for Internet.

As for the Dual Processor, I don't know if that is a good idea, you are essentially kissing half your battery good bye.

Until better batteries come out I think it is a bad idea.

I read about A new battery technology that will essentially let you charge your phone in 5 minutes from nil to full, until and allow similar discharge as available today.

This is a must and will let the Dual processor reside in phones, but as it is now I see it as a bad idea.

I also understand that customers are after such specs, especially geeks (like me), but I have to be honest that is just too much juice to give up for a functioning phone.

I believe tablets are the better segments for a dual processor, as they are not as critical as phones.

Peace.

I'm hoping my SGS hangs in there for a couple years. My next phone will be a google phone and since we're only getting the NexusS in a couple months I'll be keeping the SGS for few years.

The Phone Arrived in Kuwait today at 6 AM, I have been calling them on the status of the phone since 8 AM, they will have to get it cleared from the Customs before I get it.

Today is Thursday so Today is the last working Day of the week here.

I have been calling them hourly for custom status, I just called them 5 mins ago to hear that the Customs office is closed and will no reopen on Sunday ....   Angry

It is so close yet so far..

I asked if it will be Sunday, they told me yes probably, thing is I know it's in the Governments hands and all FedEx can do is wait, so Lets see if Sunday is the lucky Day.

Peace.
