Hi,

I'm a brand new addition to the Android world (coming from apple devices), so everything is kind of new for me.
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 and so far I'm really happy with it. So I decided to take the next step - making the most of my new SGSII - after some hours of study around the Root thing I got it successfully rooted yesterday (or at least i think so).

But well, as said, I'm totally new to this so I don't really know / understand what and how can I really get the best from my Samsung, so the question is, what now?
What kind of stuff can I do with it? How can I install a Rom on it? How do they work? How can I overclock it? What kind of apps do I have access now? Can I customise the interface of my smarphone? Well, the very basic possibilities of a rooted phone.

I know I'm kind of asking for a "Rooted SGSII for Dummies" here, but I've been searching and learning a lot through this forum, and to be honest as a newbie to the Android world I couldn't find a topic that could get me easily introduced to my new rooted SGSII.
So I thought it could be useful for newcomers to actually know and understand the power of their rooted machines and what they can actually achieve with them in a very simple or basic language (well, I'm not familiar with all the terms I've been reading around).

Any help, advices would be really appreciated.

All the best,
Thank you!

With root acces you can do all kind of different things. There are many apps you can benefit from when you are a Root user. A few of these are Titanium backup pro (Backs up everything), CPUset (For slight overclocking) and my other apps that will only work for root users. You have to watch out for strange apps that ask for root access. Root access is basically Administrator privilege in Windows. You can access the true core of your phone but so can the apps that you give the permissions.

With root access you can also ofcourse flash a new rom or a new kernel. There are many tutorials for your specific phone. Popular roms are Cyanogenmod or MIUI. There are also specific kernels for these roms that will make your phone run faster or battery life longer. I suggest you research more about flashing or roms before you even start doing this because making a mistake is very common. Especially if you softbrick your phone by mistake or something. That's a scenario that could happen but there is nothing that can't be fixed.

Here are a bunch of apps that are usefull for your rooted android:

Also if you want to know more about Roms use Google or go to XDA developers.

Hope that helped, Good luck
