Headset in-call volume

I've had my Galaxy S 2 for a week now, and I love it. It’s fast, the screen is amazing and so on. However, the headset supplied with the phone really sucks. I used to have a Sony Ericsson W995 before, a phone dedicated to music, and there's a massive difference in terms of quality - both regarding the build quality but especially the sound quality of the headset.

How do I turn up the volume when using the headset in a call? By using the side switch and maxing out the settings, it's barely hearable outside. And who designed the headset anyway? Clearly not a user.

But then again, this is the phones only set-back…

I found a solution to my problem.

Access the service menu on your phone my dialing *#*#197328640#*#*

Choose:

[5] AUDIO -> [1] NB (VOICE CALL) -> [2] HEADSET -> [1] VOLUME -> [1] SRC Speech RX Volume -> [5] 5_lvl: xx

and change xx by pressing the menu button -> Key Input and then typing in a value between 0-100, where 100 is 100% = maximum. To save, you need to use the menu button -> Back. Press this several times till you exit the service menu.
Pressing the fixed back button won't save your new setting.

As you can probably tell in "[1] SRC Speech RX Volume", there are 6 different levels that you can customize. I always like to have the lowest level "

0_lvl: xx" to something really low like 25, and the highest level "[5] 5_lvl: xx" to 100.

And yes, you can also access every other audio setting in the phone. But remember, playing around is on your own risk. You can seriously render your phone useless!

This is basically a repost of what I wrote several months ago...?
The problem still persists; that is if you reboot your unit for some reason, the new settings are gone and you have to redo the whole process once again.

there is a firmware upgrade in the month of august

i have not done it.

did they solve the volume problem

that number gives me an error message: After "USSD code running" we get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"

That number does not work on my phone. How did you get yours?

thanks. had the same problem with volume. tuning up the volume setting of the media player sorted it. much easier as going into service center mode. now 100% happy with SGS2.
