I can't say that I'm impressed with the headset that shipped with the phone.
For one, it doesn't seat properly and you have to be careful to insert it into the jack. And I find that the volume control doesn't work.
I haven't had a chance to see if it does anything should a call come in while I'm listening to tunes.
Is this normal functionality, or did I get a dud set of earbuds?
Your earbuds do sound a bit odd lol. I was under the impression that push bottun volume control wasn't possible on this handset. My earbuds have just the one button - short press pauses music, long press for voice control (when it feels like it lol), double press to skip a track but no volume control.
As for the not seating properly issue, you are aware that the edge of the S2 that houses the socket is curved, so the plug is fully seated when it touches the side of the socket nearest the screen? The backside curves away slightly so some of the plug contact is visible but it has no effect on the connection. I've heard a lot of people weren't pushing the plug fully home too, but I don't think it required excessive force.
