Well, this is annoying...

I'm on the Android Market and I start downloading something and then it gets stuck.  Now I can't unstick it... AT ALL!

Right now it states with the download icon

Ongoing
This, that...
///////////////////////

I have tried to go in and cancel it, didn't work.  Redownload it, didn't work.  Turn phone off and back on, didn't work.

When I click on it, it doesn't show anything downloading in my apps and it is preventing me from downloading or updating anything else.  Crying

How do I stop this?   Sad

Try settings>applications>Manage applications. Pick "all" then scroll down to the Market application then clear the cache there. Hopefully this will help you.

There was a cache of 1.6 megs, cleared it.  But didn't fix it.

Under 'Running Services' I have;
Quote
Media
Process: android.process.media
DownloadService    Restarting...
Started by application: Tap to stop

I stop this process and the problem goes away.  So how do I reset this?  Where do I go to clear this attempt at downloading something?

I think it will start automatically the next time you go to download something (like a manual start)

I had the endless download thing happening and force closed Market then cleared the cache. It resolved the problem for me so it does work sometimes.

I'm having the same problem.  It started downloading and it's stuck in the downloading phase and it won't let me download anything else.  I've tried everything to stop it but it hasn't worked.  I might just bring it back to the idiots who sold me this piece of crap and get them to fxi it somehow.

Here's one that finally worked for me (not my solution, found it elsewhere):

Fix Samsung Galaxy S Download Unsuccessful on Android Market Issue

1. Go to Setting -> Applications -> Manage Applications on your Samsung Galaxy S.

2. Tap on left menu and choose "Filter".

3. Choose "All" option.

4. Go to "Checkin Service" then choose "clear data"

5. Go to "Download Manager" then choose "clear data"

6. Go to "Google Apps" then choose "clear data"

7. Go to "Google Talk Service" then choose "clear data"

8. Go to "Market" then choose "clear cache"
