Hi guys! I am sure this has been asked before (I did search, probally not long enough LOL) but can someone please tell me what sync (or auto sync) actualy does?? I knpow if I turn this off it doesn't interfere with Email but what does it interfere with if I leave this off to conserve the battery. I guess my question really is...what does it actually do, I hear the term backround sync being used what is this?? Yes I am a newbie to this and yes this is my first smart phone....to give you a idea I went from a Razor to this LOL!!! I love it and understand 95% of it, just not this sync thing???  If it helps the only thing I see that I have synced is facebook and my Gmail account (I will never use the Gmail accont anyway LOL!!)

Well basically sync is short for synchronize. All your contacts, calender entries and gmail will be sync'd as in what you see on your phone is what you have on your gmail account. Kinda like a back up.
It just keep both sides updated. So if you add a contact in your gmail account out will automatically get added to your phone and vice versa.
As for the 3G question. I personally like my battery lasting long so I keep it off until required.but that is a personal preference..

Hope I helped Happy

Your Sync Question: yes they will update 2 ways if you have new numbers in Google contact or Phone they will both get updated respectively.

Example:

Before Sync
Google Contact:             Android Contacts:
John                             John
Harry                           Harry
Ben                              Tom
Sarah                           Laura

After Sync
Google Contact:             Android Contacts:
John                             John
Harry                           Harry
Ben                              Ben
Sarah                           Sarah
Tom                             Tom
Laura                           Laura

3G is the Internet provided by your network provider. Usually you pay for 3G on Bandwidth or Time Basis.

Example:
10Gb for X amount of money
or 1 month for Y amount Money. (Also Called an Unlimited Plan)

3G is usually not preferred as it eats more battery compared to WIFI and is usually more expensive to use compared to Wifi. Unless you have the Unlimited Plan.
