Hey Guys,

I have a Galaxy S, niece played with pattern lock.......my Gmail account option won't unlock the phone. I tried 3 button reset....and it doesn't work. Now the phone shows USB DEVICE not recognised. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Kies, and Samsung drivers.
I've tried odin, it doesn't detect the phone. The phone is not on guarantee anymore....so i'm hoping to unlock with having to pay provider to unlock it....

thanks

So.. your phone locked you out? As in, you cannot pass the lock screen and cannot access your homescreen etc?

If so, after a quick google search, I found this, might want to give it a try.

There's a solution on page 1 and page 2, but I recommend trying out page 2 first, as it seems easier.

Good luck on that!

This is going to sound really silly  but I had the same issue. The phone was given to me as the owner bought another. She had stuffed up the pattern unlock too many times and it required the gmail account to unlock it and she had forgotten the password to her account. The problem is this and particularly with the samsung galaxy S GT I9000 series is that:  If the user has selected the pattern code for security, no matter what you try the only way to resolve it is to reload the firmware and then it is catch 22 as you need the access to do that. You can do all the reboots, factory resets etc and it will appear to do so but after the reboot, it will still require the pattern unlock or gmail access. This is all done for a cost by samsung.    I actually got into it and found a possible loophole in the firmware.

When it displays too many pattern attempts.....use emergency call...dial 911 and once dialing...hang up....the phone will have unlocked.

PLEASE NOTE...this may not work for everyone but it certainly worked for me.

Try this:
Power off the device.
NOTE: If unable to power off, remove and reinsert the battery.
Hold the Volume down key + Volume Up Key + Power key for 15 seconds and then release.
Press the Volume down key 3 times and then select Delete all user data by pressing the power key.
Scroll down to and select Yes - delete all user data.
The device will reboot and display the recovery screen.
Select Reboot system to restart the handset.

The good news is you unlock the device. The bad news is you lose everything you had on the phone.
