Too many pattern attempts! HELP!

Hi guys,
While playing footy at school today, my "so called friend" decided to take my phone from the sidelines and endlessly attempt to unlock it by trying random patterns. So when I got back to my phone to check it, it said "Too many pattern attempts!" then it said to login into my google account to unlock it. I've never been able to sync my phone with a gmail account because every time I try it says it "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server", though I do have a gmail account which I have tried the password and it always says that it is an 'Invalid username or password.'
I have been on numerous forums and sites, and tried everything but nothing is working. Just so I don't get a double up on suggestions, here's a list of what I've tried (and hasn't worked):

-Trying normal username/email and password
-Entering null as a password,
-Trying username without @gmail.com,
-Calling from another phone and trying to get to homepage by hanging up etc.,
-Factory reset (for some reason my phone does not enter any recovery modes or anything when i do the start up with volume buttons/home button etc)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I already have messages/missed calls which I can't access!

The last post in thread 35 refers to pressing the home button constantly to exploit a bug. You have to got to the link at the end of the thread.

It won't work because you were never able to register your device.

Can you get into recovery Mode?

Close your phone. Take out Battery to make sure it's switched off.

Then Press and HOLD Volume UP + HOME Button + Power Button.

Once the Device Lights up let go of the Power button but keep the Volume and Home Keys pressed.

Once you see a menu with 3 or 4 options let go of Volume and Home keys.

Now use the volume rocker to scroll down to Wipe System Data and press Home Key to select.

This will give you an option like this.

------Yes-----
------No------
------No------
------No------
------No------
------No------

Scroll down to Yes and press Home Key.

Warning this will erase all contacts, Apps, and Settings.
