Start-up and shut-down leader

Is it possible to skip the start-up and shut-down screen. That is the logo you're shown when you put the phone on or out with the ridiculously loud music. Even if it is possible to shut down the 'music' I would be very pleased.

Do you have a branded phone, i.e. is what you're seeing the logo of some mobile network? If so, try unbranding it. The original unbranded Samsung Galaxy S into/outro isn't annoying, IMHO.

No, I have a non-branded phone. I see the original start-up en close-down scene from samsung itself (the stylish "S") and I think it is annoying. I would very much like to skip this intro/outro or at least be able to turn of the sound of that permanently.

Agreed the standard (Samsung branded) start-up and start-down sequences are loud, brash and very annoying. I'd root my device just to get rid of them, can anyone confirm it it is possible with a rooted device, or is it in the bootloader?

Spend some time reading THIS, THIS, THIS and THIS.

Then download and install a Root Explorer, Root Manager or something like that from Android Market.

Using those, delete the files (not folder).....

1 ) in \System\Media\ - delete bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. These are the bootup animation screens.

2 ) in \System\Media\Video\Shutdown\ - delete all the .png and a .cfg. These are the shutdown screens.

3 ) in \System\Etc\ - delete PowerOn.wav. This is the bootup sound.

and

4 ) in \System\Media\Audio\ui\ - delete shutdown.ogg. This is the shutdown sound.

Do you want to change or remove the animations?

If you don't want the startup and shutdown animations, delete them.

The procedure was stated clearly in my post on Top.

To replace branded Galaxy S startup, shutdown animations and sounds to the original unbranded ones, extract this ATTACHEMENT and replace as below:

1 ) in \System\Media\ - replace bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. These are the bootup animation screens.

2 ) in \System\Media\Video\Shutdown\ - replace all the .png and a .cfg. These are the shutdown screens.

3 ) in \System\Etc\ - replace PowerOn.wav. This is the bootup sound.

and

4 ) in \System\Media\Audio\ui\ - replace shutdown.ogg. This is the shutdown sound.

I found that, even after updating to a newer firmware, our SingTel branded startup & shutdown will revert back to SingTel. So, you'll have to replace everything again.

Eh?.....

You're welcome.

Just like your branded SingTel startup and shutdown animation screen, some other foreign carrier (eg: At&t, Orange, etc.) might have the sounds branded too.
So, if needed, one can also replace them and have the original startup and shutdown sounds.

You don't need those, SingTel haven't brand the sounds.

How is it done, was as I've posted.
