This was intriguing:
http://bit.ly/ameSGSTvOut
| Apparently the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S has a TV out option built into the display settings that allows you to pick your TV type (PAL or NTSC). All you need is the appropriate cable, which goes from the 3.5 mm jack to the standard AV ports on your television.

Have been trying this out, but it's not working, as there are two (Audio and video) 3.5 mm jacks at one end, with an RYW at the other.

Should i use just the video 3.5mm jack
or
Is there a cable with a single 3.5 mm jack at one end and an RYW at the other?

I have enabled TV Out in the Sound and display settings.  Guess the PAL/NTSC selection should not matter.

Thanks,

ShastriX

I believe you can get a Nokia cable that does 3.5mm jack to AV that supports video and audio out but this is only SD video quality.

There are rumours that samsung are about to release an HDMI cable for the Galaxy S which suports higher definition video........................so I would maybe wait for that one.

I got the connection for the TV. It is just for the 3.5 audio jack on the top of the phone, next to power/usb slot. I forgot to check that my TV was DLNA compatable/enabled. It's not, so it doesnt work.

If you get the cable with a 3.5 mm audio jack at one end and the three RCA jacks (red, white and yellow) on the other, you have to put the RED (usually right channel audio) RCA jack into the YELLOW (video channel) socket on your TV for it to work.

I thought DLNA was only for connecting via WiFi (or Ethernet), so if you use the cable, DLNA should not matter. It is just outputiing standard left, righ audio and one video connection that any TV should be able to understand.

However, I have tried three phones (i9000), two different cables and three different TV sets and none of them work! And yet I have seen this working on Youtube, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Is there seomthing technically different inthe Samsung specific cable?

I will have a look for one, but there shouldnt be any difference between the cables. Standard 3 pin jack to red, white and yellow cables.

Are you able to get the media player to use the USB PORT not the 3.5mm jack?

My vehicle has a USB port,it would make charging/playing media nicer!

Thanx, MArk

I'm afraid Nokia CA-75U cable will not work as well.
Some people reported this issue as well.
I'm not sure which one is correct method.
Why some people can with even using normal rca cable.
And why some people must using nokia cable, and some of them doesn't work at all.
It seem I'm running out idea why doesn't work.
For sure my phone was set to international firmware. (No operator boot/shutdown logo)
Original firmware was Singtel firmware.
I ask Samsung personnel service center to switch to original firmware.
I more like original firmware rather then operator firmware.
The guy just do some code in my phone to change selected firmware.
There is no flashing when he did it. He just selected and apply.
Not sure what secret code he was applied.
It seem there are some preloaded firmware by default. (Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia)
My phone purchased in Singapore, Singtel my default firmware.
Basically my phone is asia version.
Today I'm will try to buy Nokia TV CA-75U at nokia shop.
Hopefully is original cable.
Try how it goes.
