Is there anyway to sync facebook's profile and picture to my contacts? HTC and Nexus One both have these features, I thought it is from Android platform itself, but I can't find it anywhere in Galaxy S. Anyone?

Ah ha, found it. Once added facebook account to the phone, go Contacts -> menu button -> Get friends, there you can import all or selected facebook accounts to contacts.

@vexedgeneration :
don't use the facebook application, just add your facebook account from the phone book and then sync it and chose add friends (contacts -> menu -> add friends -> facebook)

@shell :
after syncing with facebook and chosing get friends, you can chose the friends you want to import into your phone book, you don't have to import everyone Happy

@all :

and after you get those friends you can simply merge FB contacts with gmail contacts and your original phone contacts into single profiles using (link contacts)

Amazing phone book!! this is my favorite feature by the way Happy

I can't seem to be able to merge facebook contacts with phone contacts. This means I got a whole bunch of duplicates in my phone book. Why can't i edit for example my FB contacts so that they also can contain phone numbers?

Hi

First of all, sorry for the bump, but I used the search and this seems to be related to my problem.

What happens to me is, I go to contacts, hit menu, hit add friends, and my 2 added accounts show up (one for twitter and one for facebook), but both are disabled and I cannot select / click them, so I can't add friends.

I want to do that because I lost one of my facebook friends I imported automatically when I added the facebook account and now I don't know how to recover that contact.

Any hints?

OK, I managed to enable the facebook "add friend" button, by deleting my account and re-creating it without importing anything.

But the contact I deleted manually is still missing from that list, and I am pretty sure she is among my Facebook friends. I've tried everything, even resetting to factory defaults and formatting SD cards, but it didn't help.

Anybody knows how to solve that problem?

Sorry for the triple post, but this is driving me mad...

It seems to be a FB's graph API issue... if you go to

http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/api/user/

you can click in the "friends" link. Only 117 of my 118 friends are showing up there, and the one is missing is the same that doesn't sync with my cell friends, so I don't know what did I do to "delete" or "make invisible for the graph API" this person.

Undecided

I am also having a problem adding facebook pictures to contacts. When I go to the menu in the contacts I don't even have the option "add friend" I tried deleting the account and setting it back up but there is still no "add friend" option. I just got this phone (my first smart phone, I've been living in dinosaur ages) and I can't seem to figure it out whatsoever. I just want my contacts to be linked to their FB pics...why is this so hard?? Can anybody help me?

I don't know if this is the cause but there are 2 facebook apps. One is Facebook S! that is among the Samsung Apps, and the other is the normal official facebook app downloadable from Market.
I use the facebook S! for the address book friends sync and the normal facebook app for anything else.
It seems that the whole facebook S! app is not available any more, but when I add a facebook SNS connection, I can choose between the facebook app and the Facebook S! that has a bit shinier and more rounded icon.

I'm having the same problem.  I only just discovered this whole "SNS" sync option; I'd always been (apparently) using the sync option included in the official Facebook app.  Using that sync, during initial setup I would be able to select the option "only sync contacts already on my phone", which is what I want.  Also my phone contacts (which are actually all Google contacts - none are stored directly on my phone) would properly merge with the Facebook sync contacts.  All was good except the Activities & Media tabs in the Contacts app were always empty (because it wasn't an SNS sync).

NOW I've disabled the Facebook app's sync, and turned on the Facebook SNS sync with the "shinier" icon, and I get the Activities & Media tabs, but there's no option to "only sync contacts already on my phone".  I have to manually select the contacts I want.  Also, I have duplicate contacts: one w/ the little Google icon and one with the little Facebook icon.  I know i could manually go through one-by-one and merge each contact but that would take forever, and it worked before.

Any thoughts on how to get the "Only sync facebook contacts already on phone" option AND the SNS features working??
