Thanks for your suggestions. I have now tried with and without data network mode switched on and auto-retrieve on and off but nothing seems to work.

I have never tried to send, just trying to receive and they just sit there saying "downloading".

Any other ideas????
What's your problem?

The above answer worked for me to receive an mms thats been downloading for the last few days so thanks  Laugh

to send you need to activate data network mode (press and hold lock key to do that) have just found this out by accident lol but it def works as long as your settings are right

this also works to receive..if data network mode is activated and auto-retrieve is on your mms will download automatically and very quickly

hope this helps!

Even though SMS and mms may work through the same app they do not connect the same way.

MMS works via an Internet connection and always has.

To send/recv your phone connects to a zero rated url,  this means you do not incur a fee for data transfer, but the fixed rate for mms depending on your price plan.  Receiving is free (not too sure if this works the same when abroad as charges are influenced by what the foreign network charges your carrier).

With older type phones (only connected to Internet when you open browser) this is not an issue,  but you have to bare in mind that Android was developed to be used with Internet always on for swift use of browser and the thousands of other apps/services that use Internet.

So when you purchase an Android phone but have no data plan,  you are not using the phone in the way it was intended. This is not an attempt by the network to get more money from you.

The best you can do is to make sure there are few apps as possible on your phone that use Internet,  and switch on data when you had notification of an mms. Also in some (rare) cases you need to send one mms before the service is fully active and will allow you to receive.

Finally if you use wifi,  you should not need to turn off to send/recv mms.  Networks do not allow the use of wifi for mms,  so the phones are designed to switch to mobile network data connection (if enabled) to send/recv.

Hope this clears it up for you,  sorry I couldn't give a more positive response though.

A problem that I have been noticing recently with my Samsung Galaxy S 4G from T-Mobile is that my texts say that they are sent but are not received by the person I am texting.  I have especially noticed this problem when texting people with iPhones.  The only way that the person receives my message is if I send another message and then it seems to force the previous one to send. Please help me!!! Thanks in advance!!!
