HI   I actually tested gripping as shown in the video, covering the bottom protruded part with hands, and i noticed the the 5 white bars of signal can drop to all grey (no white bars)..

Does anyone has this problem of dropped calls suddenly in the middle of conversation, or even difficult to call into the Samsung Galaxy S from another phone, saying the network is  unavailable? Sometimes I would need to call 3-4 times to get through into the GalaxyS.   I am using Singtel from Singapore.

The problem with this kind of issue is that the service provider blames the Samsung, and Samsung blames Singtel.

To be honest I have not had a problem at all with my phone, the signal does drop but I still am on the call and can hear them chatting.

I have this problem.

My wife has had problems phoning me, and today I've been in a supermarket where I could get no signal but my wifes nokia 5800 had full signal.

Probably will send my phone back this week.

Using a Samsun Galaxy S on T Mobile in UK.

Good for 2-3 months then started to drop calls.

Now virtually every call dropped within 5 and 45 seconds - different areas , signal strength always full

Any comments welcome

Env:

H/W: GT-I9000
kernel: 2.6.29
baseband: I9000BUJM3
Firmware: 2.1-update1 (recent upgrade)
Signal strength very good.
Build: ECLAIR.I9000BUJM4
Battery 75% or better.
Storage capacity at nearly full.
Good signal strenth with UK Voda SIM while in Amsterdam (worked fine before for months).
Roaming data disabled.

Steps to reproduce:
> Accept an incoming phone call.
> Say hello to each other then call ends.
> Try to call back - say hello to each other then call ends.
> Allow their following call to go through to voice mail.
> Listen to the full voice mail without issue.

Reproducibility:
2/4 1 = issue seen 2 = OK 3 = issue seen 4 OK.

Notes:

1st time seen I was listening to music and answered while the earphones were attached.
2nd time seen the device was connected via USB to the PC - I disconnected while answering. Also noticed that the contact name was replaced with a phone number.

Upgraded to 2.2 and cleared out my file storage. I've had several conversations under the same conditions as above and all is well. :-)
