Predictive text and horizontal format issues

I've had my Galaxy mini Tab for a couple of weeks now. Fortunately, it was a free gift, given the issues I'm having.

1. Predictive text is on, and won't be turned off.
2. The automatic shift to horizontal format ceases to work after a while. For somebody with fairly big fingers like myself, this is a real drag, as the vertical format keyboard is much smaller.

I've had to do a factory data reset to solve these issues, which is obviously a real bore.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I had already done what you suggested, but predictive text remains, despite it being unticked.

As for the keyboard, I'm not using Swype, but the Samsung.

Similarly, auto-rotation refuses to work no matter how much it's shaken or moved. When it worked, it rotated very easily and I was pleased.

The other issue is that the default language for the keyboard is Chinese, and despite changing this to English in Settings, it won't change.
