Please tell me there is a way to turn OFF autocorrect

Hi,

I can't find a way to turn off the autocorrect spelling feature on my Galaxy Blaze.

Edit: It's a Model # SGH-T769, Android Version 2.3.6

I have tried going into Settings, Language and Keyboard, and unchecking various settings, but it makes no difference either in the web browser or text messages.

I HATE this feature with a passion. I'm a good speller, and I don't need it; all it does is slow me down and generate ridiculous (and, in text messages, embarrassing) malapropisms. I hope I'm not stuck with having to add everything to the dictionary once. WTF?

Please tell me there's an option that works.
