i wanted to know about this too.

i have a bunch of pictures that i like to show to my friends and family but i have some pictures and videos there that are private, but i can't hide it from the gallery.

is there a way to hide/protect those files or a way to tell the gallery not to show those pictures.

also is there an alternate picture app that can do that?

I had Resco Photo Viewer on my Symbian and I could only show the media that i wanted.

Well, I found a way. If you can connect your SGS via usb mode(refer to mass storage thread), you can open the DCIM folder and view your pics and videos. Then just like any mass storage device you can label and make your own folders. Sort then drag and drop. Hope this helps. Still bummed that the SGS does not have this built-in feature on the gallery.

I think u can do this,it show in this website "How To",make a new folder, then make a file any name with .nomedia in it,then put your pics in it.then it won't show pics or videos in the gallery, you need to go to my file to see it.
Or u can use a widget can do password to your folders.
Hope can help!

Just trying 'Dropbox' initially seem very good works with pictures, pdf files, excel, word. Still playing but pleased. also you can access the files from any computer or device.

Secure and private.
