Okay i just got the phone today and I am trying to Add more tones to the Notification tones and i have read all the entries on this one and you all speak of the Media file and making a Sub file and such.. Okay when i conect to the phone from the PC i do not get a file called Media.. I get Andriod, DCIM, music, play list, sounds, Data, download, Pictures, PRIVATE, and Video, is the name of the files i get and i don't understand how to make a Directory structure.

ok here goes. i have just tried this and it works fine but i will add a bit to it to hopefully help

Using your "My Files", in the directory of you sdcard, tab on the Menu key and select [Create folder], named it Media.

Tab Media folder, then Menu key and select [Create folder] again, name it Audio.

Tab Audio folder, then Menu key and select [Create folder] again, name it Alarms. Than another one Notifications and another one Ringtones.

1. open applications.
2. scroll through to find my files.
3. press menu button (bottom left of phone)
4. press create folder
5. in pop up box type media then ok
6. now press media to open folder
7. repeat step 4 and name the next folder audio
8. open audio folder and repeat step 4 and name it notifications
9. do not open notifications but repeat step 4 again to add afolder ringtones and another folder alarms
10. now connect to pc using usb cable. on my computer it asks what i want to do and i select open folders. (you may have to look in my computer if not) you should see the folder media which you created. open up
and you should find audio. open this to reveal the three folders you created. open notification now find your mp3 file on your computer, copy and then paste into notifications
11. disconnect cable, go into settings, press sound, press notification ringtones and it should be there

oops just noticed this is in the galaxy s section not s2.  Embarrased

Hi,

I am able to add or delete new ringtones and notification tones to the phone using the above method of creating a media folder in the sd folder. ie.

/sd/media/audio/alarms
/sd/media/audio/notifications
/sd/media/audio/ringtones

However, I have 2 questions that is related to ringtones.
1. When you add a ringtone from the 'My Files' function, where does this file goes to?
How do you delete this file. The added ringtone(s) will show up in the ringtone selection screen but the file is not in any of the above folders mentioned. In fact, if you have not created the above mention folders, the folders will not be created.

2. How do you delete default ringtones or notification tones?

Cheers

if you go to your music player ... pick a song  then hit the "menu key" at the bottom left , you will see  "set as"  there you can put it in your ring-tones or alarms.

Thanks for this info. I finally was able to download the ringtones I wanted.  The only difference in your instructions and my phone was that after going to the music player and picking a song, instead of going to menu key at bottom left, I had to hold down the selected song for the menu to pop up.  But without your initial instructions I would have never figured that out.

  Hi all

just touching base my first thread, anyway the ringtone thing i have a SGS GT I9000 here is a SBS of what i did to get new ringtones onto phone

1 I have rom toolbox the free version ,(Check this first )you go into the Root Browser and select system/media/audio and you should find the default alarm/notifications/ringtone folders (do not go into SD card.)

2.you can download ringtones/notifications from the web,you must convert these to .ogg files(i use format factory )

3 once converted transfer to a folder on your SD card via USB i just put them into bluetooth folder

4 And then go back into Rom toolbox select SDcard/Bluetooth/ogg file long press on the file and a drop down will appear select move, then go back to Root menu and select system/media/audio and the folder you want and press paste.

Bingo your done come out of Root and check out sounds and you will have a new file in your default notification for the particular ringtone you wanted.

now i am running Dark Knight 5.5 android 4.0.4 on a build by Nasif with a 3.1.10+ Devil Kernel but it should work for any Kernel don't quote me on this because its the first time i have tried it.   HUH?

I think just connect mobile with the computer and make use of large saving mode. Then just simply copy and paste music files from the computer in the mobile phone. It can be added notification tones list.
