Hello everyone.

I have a very strange problem. When I check the settings of my phone, in the section 'Status' -> 'WiFi Mac address' the following message is displayed: 'Not available'.
As a result of that, obiously I can't connect to a network with Wifi

Does anyone has some suggestions?

I bought this phone 3 days ago, the first two days the WiFi connection worked in a normal way

First turn on Wi-fi (just in case it is actually off).
Then have a look here:
Settings -> Wireless and network -> Wi-Fi settings
Then press Menu, Advanced.

It should show you the MAC address.

Well, thats exactly what the problem is. There IS no MAC address. Where the MAC address should be displayed, there's simply the message 'Mac address not available'

Yes, it should always show the Mac Address even if you didn't turn it on. It's also displayed at the Settings > About Phone > Status menu (all the way down), but I suspect it will have the same message. Therefore, it's probably a serious software or hardware defect (especially if you already power cycle and/or factory reset it) and can't be solved except for after a full servicing, or replacement.

I agree with Kimputer. No MAC big hardware fail. Hard reset then take for service if no MAC

*********  alright, don't reset or take to supplier to be repaired or fixed ********
generally you can have no mac address when you are not connected to wifi.  try looking up your dhcp client list on your wifi/router, then turn on the wifi on the sgs.  you should see your mac address appear in the client list of the router and like magic it should also appear on the phone, either in the wifi/advanced page or the phone status page, both in the settings section.
check it out   Cool Cool Cool

note:  the sgs' are notorious for wifi probs, esp after froyo upgrade, those of you from europe and us here in australia are coming to terms with the up's and down's of froyo.  an update to froyo has been released which was meant to address things like wifi dropouts etc.  but not all carriers are implementing or are bothering to implement this.  bring on the gingerbread, i can smell it cooking now... When the MAC address is lossed (I do not know WHY this happens, but it happens) you need to reboot you Galaxy S (configurations > privacy > restore firmwhare settings). Your smart (?) phone will restart, the MAC address for Wifi hardware will be restored and your wifi net will work now. If not, look for technichal assistance in your area.
Be CAUTIOUS! ALL your apps, agenda,... may be lost during reboot!
