Hi, I have a yr old Galaxy S on T-Mobile (UK).

Having had difficulties receiving SMS in a timely manner and calls intermittently going to voicemail for no reason, I called support who updated the network settings.

Since then, the "G" icon in the top notification bar has disappeared and I can't access the internet  or sync any of my email, fbook, twitter etc aps, unless I use WiFi.

Called T-Mobile back who talked me through some new settings to ensure the APNs are correct - they are fine.

They are telling me that in the Mobile Network Settings menu (from settings, wireless & network) I am missing two items from the list, including "use packet settings" and "data connection" (or something similar).  At the moment I have 4 items listed - "Data Roaming" (selected), "Access Point Names", "Use only 2G networks" and "Network Operators".

Has anyone had a similar issue?  T-Mobile are unable to help over the phone and have suggested I go into the local store to see if they can help but am sure (from previous experience with an older phone) they'll want to send it away!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

No, only the other 4 options are there.  Have looked in all other menu's to see if it's somewhere else with no luck.

What Firmware version do you have?

Have you tried updating your Firmware?

If you'd decided to send it to your local store, do you mind trying a Factory Reset first?

It's version 2.1 update 1.  According to Kies it's up to date.

If the store tells me it needs to be sent away, I'll definitely try the factory re-set first!  Does it lose everything?  I've backed up to Kies just in case.

Thanks

Yes, all your contacts, data and installed applications will be erase, so make a backup first.

Also, you might like to take a look on some of These Guides.

Well the T-Mob shop wanted to send it away for a month, which did not suit me!  Did a factory re-set and the problem is fixed!

Just moved all my contacts over to the sim card and my media was on an external SD card anyway, so the process was actually quick and painless!

Without all the stupid apps I'd downloaded the phone is running amazingly quick now, it's like having a new phone!

Thank you so much for your advice!!
