cannot make any outgoing calls/messages or receve them. the phone is unlocked to any network and was bought on virgin, if another sim is inserted it will not get signal at all and if i search network providers and select the correct one the phone displays (your sim card does not allow a connection to this network) message. i have tried 4 different working sims on different networks includeing virgin and tried switching from 3g to 2g and nothing. have tried a factory reset and checked the phone is unlocked by inputing code:*#7465626#.i have checked the phone is not in flight mode which is how it behaves.   does anyone have any sugestions please please.

Hey, I have SAME problem and I cannot fix it. Some one has a clue on that?
I bought in USA (by Amazon) and called my mom once (the only one time it worked!), since then no signal. I changed sim card, cell phone says its name but no signal... no calls.
When i search network providers, I dont receive any... first time when I tried, I selected one number displayed there (nothing common in Brasil bc here we have 4 operators but they use name) it displayed (your sim card does not allow a connection to this network) message.
Some one please? And I dont have the option to put myself data to work my network.

I would contact the provider you got the SIM card from.

I am also having a similar problem.  I've had my phone for several months now and it has had zero major issues.  While I was driving out to my family's place I noticed that I had no 3g.  I waited until I got back into a place where I knew for sure there was a 3g connection and still, no dice.  I even tried connecting to WiFi and although it recognizes a bunch of networks, it will not connect to anything

In desperation I tried a factory reset because those usually seem to fix any problem, but for this it did nothing. Help!

I have the same problem...

Can anyone here help us. My situation is after I hard reset my phone, I cannot get any signal on my phone.

My phone can read my SIM card because I can see the list of contacts on the phone. But on upper right corner it says no signal.

I tried to update it using ODIN but still gave same result, no signal.

My SIM works on my other phone except on my SGS.

Have you selected the operator of the SIMcard?
Settings>wireless and network>mobile networks>network operators select.

I also tried the solution above to search for available network but it doesn't show any network.

I already root my phone thinking that it might resolve the issue but it's not: is there other option to check on it. Please help.

Maybe your Sim card is damaged.

Try Removing your SIM Card put it another phone see if it works then re-enter it.

I sometimes had this problem with other phones.

Peace.
