I don't have wifi coverage but I use edge/gprs network for internet browser. I would like to use it as a modem for my laptop. I downloaded PDAnet but it didn't work yet. Any suggestion please?

I have problem using my sgs as data modem, if any one used it as data modem for accessing internet from pc/laptop running xp or wnn7 please help me.
I am trying to describe what I have done to access internet from laptop/pc by using my sgs as modem…
I am using edge/gprs service in my mobile to get internet, mobile Tethering is on, wifi is off, mobile ap is off, Bluetooth is off. My phone setting is settings- USB settings-ask on connection.
So when I connect the USB cable from my sgs to pc, I have the option to choose by which way I want to connect my sgs with pc. I then select "PC Internet" and if I am not wrong then this is the option to use sgs data modem (gprs, edge, hspda) to use internet by the pc/laptop.
My laptop is win xp and its- control panel- phone and modem-in modem tab Samsung mobile modem is installed after kies installed. I used the internet by using sgs as data modem from my laptop after first time kies installation and that time no problem or not hang up the phone. I just plug out the USB cable and after that day whenever I try “pc internet” mode my sgs hang up and need to plug out battery to start the phone again. I have reinstalled kies latest version but problem remain same
I have tried with win 7, after connecting sgs and pc by USB cable in “pc internet” mode a Samsung mobile modem is installed automatically and then I used internet and download some thing by using my sgs edge modem. I plug out the usb cable because I can not find any safe way to disconnect the sgs from pc. After some time I connect the phone through USB cable to my pc and a Samsung mobile modem is installed automatically again but this time the modem is disabled and can not turn it enable to access internet. Restart the pc and also mobile but no change.
