I have bell SGS which is i9000m.
I didn't mind the difference until i ilfigured we use different firmware..
our latest is JH2... so whats the difference between i9000 and i9000m?
Why different firmware? Is it gonna matter when we are getting froyo???

As far as I know the only difference between the the i9000 and i9000m is that we have UMTS/HSPA 850/1900/2100 instead of 900/1900/2100 to be compatible with north american networks.

Officially we'll have to wait until Bell comes out with their version of 2.2 but if you're adventurous I believe you can put stock 2.2 on it now. I9000 firmwares also work because the only difference is the radio band but I'm not sure if even the i9000 has 2.2 yet. Also apparently the official i9000m updates won't want to install using the official software afterwards because the phone will be recognized as the i9000.

are u from canada bell,their SGS have a lot of problem,like shut down and restart?

This is an old post, From what I understand the I9000m had a lot of problems that are now fixed with the new JL2 update.
