Samsung Galaxy S Captivate Model # SGH I897 Build # Éclair.UCJH7  Firmware Ver. 2.1-update1
Kernel Version 2.6.29
I have not Rooted my Phone.
Phone Carrier: AT&T – The Phone is Locked

My phone came with A Wallpaper called Blue Sea installed on the Home Screen.
I checked Battery Use and it says the wallpaper is using 10% of Battery Power.
I want to remove the wallpaper to save some Battery Power.
I can’t find this Blue Skies Wallpaper anywhere in Applications, or Settings.
How do I remove Wallpaper from the Home Screen?

Is it a Live wallpaper? If so, you can't remove it.

If it's just a normal static image wallpaper, you can delete it from the Gallery.

You should try to change the wallpaper first. Long press on an empty space on your screen and select "Wallpaper" from the popup menu.

Damn. I was hoping, like my old LG, I could get rid of all the crap I will never use.

Anyway...
I did a search to find out how to use my own pictures and all I get is "save it to the phone, go to Apps/Settings/Wallpaper and find it there."

DUH!
Nope, sorry, I am not seeing my images there at all.
I guess I would have to create a folder, put the pictures in that and then it would be seen by the phone, right?
If so, where do I create the folder? I would not be using Kies, but would use the Windows folder view on the PC.
If anyone answers, please make it simple as I am finding this phone quite a bit different from my last one.

My thanks to all.

Mark

It can be done, but your device must be rooted.

When you're on your home screen, press the Menu button and select [Wallpaper]...

Then, tap on [Gallery]...

Can you see/select your own picture from here?...

Thank you for that Omnian.
The folder shown for me is "Home Screen Wallpaper" and I now see my pictures. A double tap opens them, then another tap opens the one I want. Strangely enough I have two sets of each picture so I guess they have been saved twice on the phone.

My personal reason for setting up wallpaper is to have my own mobile number on display - I never remember it.

I am not sure what you mean by this.

Thanks,

Root means giving access to your device's system files, allowing you to modify any files, including removing some "unwanted" apps and stuffs.

It is a little complicated and if the wrong system file is removed, it may cause your device to be useless except as a paper weight.

Read This Thread for more details regarding Root.
