I have the same problem and, as you, I'm left with only the Apps button at the bottom of the Home page.
However I don't recall uninstalling any apps.

Any help would be appreciated.

The solution was posted last November by KOOKM75 which solved my problem with the 3 missing buttons.  Here are the steps:

The three missing icons should be Call, Message and Contacts.

All three should be in the application menu.

Once in Applications press Menu and Edit.

Find the missing icon,  press and hold before dragging down to the bottom row.

Once you've done all three icons,  press Menu and Save.

NOTE: Make sure your Applications are displayed in Grid view and not in List view otherwise pressing the Menu will not display the Edit menu item.

Thank you for this - I dropped my Vibrant (luckily inside tough case) and didn't notice anything odd immediately. Next day powered up and was only left with "Phone" and "Home" at bottom, also missing other icons and "safe mode" watermark in bottom left corner. Figured out how to clear safe mode and recover facebook and weather widgets, but couldn't figure out bottom home screen buttons.
Yay, forums!
