dont worry , all ok.
I think that claiming that phone can be better than gps, camera, computer, mp3 etc is not correct.
I am glad that maps are working, in case to be lost Sticking out tongue

thanks

Ok another test
1)one phone with android 2.1
2) second phone with android 2.2

phones are outside separated by 1 cm. in 2.1 phone 10 satellites are visible with 50-60% of signal, on second phone 1-2 satelites visible. seems to be Froyo problem.

does anyone has any solution or only possible one is to wait for upgrade or install 2.1?

thanks for any idea

Is it easy enough to swap operating systems on the phones?  It makes me wonder if one phone has better hardware than the other.  It would be the only way to really know.

Did you do a factory reset after the upgrade? Or even a battery pull?

Are both phones Galaxy Ss? I know the GPS thing is crazy in terms of satellites viewed and it is software driven. I had 12 satellites and super signal on JK4 then my phone crashed and went for repair Crying I don't use mine for navigation as I have in car satnav.

Wow Omnian you are great REALLY.
i was rather pissed....... with this topic. i read your post and tried to set this:
SERVER: www.spirent-lcs.com
PORT: 7275
and magically i found 10 satellites and gps works. seems to be software/location problem but now all is ok. so under Froyo 2.2 i set:
SERVER: www.spirent-lcs.com
PORT: 7275
and all works.
previously i had suppl.goggle.com and it was not correct.

Thank again very very much.

Have a nice evening

I have tried the *#*#1472365#*#* thing and all it does is clear my dialing screen.  I went to the market and got SGS Unlock tool. Tried the same thing with the same result.

Has anyone come up with a non rooting option to fixing the issue with GPS using "Navigation" and not locking on to satellites?

Samsung Vibrant upgraded to Froyo (that is when the problem began).
