Hello everyone, I wonder if you can help. I have a month old Galaxy S2 with several issues. First of all, it sometimes shows as charging even when not plugged in. There have also been ocassions when the USB symbol has showed when not plugged in. I have read online that this may be due to dirty connections on the USB/charging plug. My phone has not been exposed to moisture or water. More recently, sometimes the phone back light does not turn off despite the backlight being set to 30 seconds. When this happens, sometimes it can be locked/unlocked as normal but other times seems to freeze, requiring the power button and volume button to be held for several seconds to restart the phone. Finally, the battery life seems very inconsistent; for example, on a weekend away, I managed to make the battery last for a couple of days but then today, having barely used the phone, it seems to have virtually drained the battery in a few hours with little use. I make sure that no unnecessary apps are running in the background. Apologies for the long first post. I would be very grateful if someone could help sort these problems as they are currently spoiling an otherwise fantastic phone.

First try a factory reset and if that doesn't work, take it to your authorized retailer or service center cause that definitely isn't normal.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried a reset with no luck and been back to the shop, again with no luck (they insist a reset will fix it). I'm going to try again when I can next get to the shop - the phone is virtually unuseable at the min; the battery drain is ridiculous, the screen freezes regularly, the charging icon keeps appearing and it needs regular switching off/on.

I had that problem just last week. A friend of mine recommended me to clean out the USB port gently with a toothpick or needle. He said the problem is caused by lint that gathered in the port. Guess what - there was a lot of lint. And now my phone's fine!
