galaxy S display has color bleeding

my phone is 2 months old and suddenly it has severe color bleeding. the blue seem to be streaking and the entire display has intermittent lines of colors. Anyone with similar issues? is there a fix? is it software or hardware issues? its my first smartphone and i am devastated.

Can you take it to a service center? There is a break in time for AMOLED screens but it's not supposed to break into that....

i am wary of service centres but i may have no option left. What surprises me is that everything looks normal when i use the web browsers to go online. the colors dont bleed on for example the facebook or twitter etc. its only the interface. what could be the reason?

My gf's unit also has this problem. Thank goodness I don't have this problem but please do update if there's any solution to this.

We tried data reset, software updates. no luck. finally took it to the dreaded service centre. An experience which will take a whole blog to explain. Finally they informed us that the display needs to be replaced. This means the front panel in totality will be replaced. I hope to get it back in a couple of days. The way they were handling the phone i am worried if i will get it back in acceptable condition. It has been a really traumatic experience. They informed me it was a manufacturing defect and there seems to be a batch which might have this issue. The moment the got the phone they called up samsung directly and were adviced to immediately accept the phone. We were informed that the problem will get worse over time and hence we had no option but to submit it. Luckily its popped up so soon or else if it was after warranty i dont see these people giving us a second look. The service centre is a disaster with no coordination and a messed up token system along with a group of people who treat you like you are at fault to have got a samsung mobile. I would suggest that you take it to the service centre as soon as possible. Will update once i get my phone on thursday.

got my phone back. They have changed the front panel totally. Very dissappointed that a brand new phone costing around 30 k is needing repairs so soon. All said and done the phone is good as new now with a binary update as well. They have provided a task manager which is very useful and can be used to kill applications. Surprisingly the phone came back with a scratch guard that wasnt there when i gave it. Why would samsung give me a scratch guard for free? Its not the normal pastic sheet that comes with a brand new phone its a real scratch guard. Very sckeptical about the service centre. it is very shabby and the service attitude it worse than one can imagine. They didnt even provide me any receipt or notification to show that my phone had been serviced. I finally took a zerox copy of the original receipt that they had and were not willing to return. Has anyone else got similar color issues. I suspect samsung is aware of the issue and are downplaying it.

You don't seem impressed with your service center but they
1) called Samsung immediately upon getting your phone (and followed their directions)
2) repaired it and got it back to you within the alloted time
3) installed an update
4) installed a free protector
5) copied your receipt for you since they didn't routinely provide the paperwork you wanted.

I expected to hear that they lost your phone and tried to pawn a faulty replacement off on you. Would you rather the used car sales type who promises the world (yesteday) and puts you off infinitely when you try to get them to deliver?

Usually color distortion or bleeding is caused by defective manufacturing of panel grade. This is permanent thing and can't be fixed until rebuild it. Your 1 year manufacture warranty should cover this and you should definitely have it exchanged.

On an unrelated note, the service here kinda bites; There are so many people at the local service center that I have to spend a couple of hours (literally) lounging around, waiting for my turn to come up.

Be thankful that your service center has excellent service.

... Incidentally, I once dropped my phone flat on the screen a few weeks after buying it. There was nary a scratch nor a chip on the Gorilla Glass facade. However, the AMOLED layer underneath was completely shorted out; Half the screen was fine, the rest was a mess of RGB splotches.

I had it taken to that local Samsung Service Center I'd just mentioned. By then, the display refused to turn on at all. By the next day, they put it down to faulty manufacturing, and I got the display replaced for free Happy

I have encountered the same problem and they rejected my warranty because i had not given them my phone with the original samsung android kernel. I know that rules are rules, and maybe i should have know that i should have put the original samsung android operating system, but this problem had nothing to do with the software.
I read that the samsung service from your place told you it was a manufacturing problem. Could you please send me some email from them or back me up on this to proove that it is a manufacturing problem and they should consider approaching this problem froma civilised angle?
