Im hoping you guys can help me before i return this phone and orser a iphone4 instead.

yesterday had my Galaxy S delivered (always been iphone, thought i'd try something different).

Im having this odd problem. When the Galaxy S attempts to connect to the router by wifi it will completely hang the router and I have to reboot it. I know it cant be the router because my laptop, iphone, HTC desire, xbox360, Wii, PS3 and BD theatre all work perfectly.

Some specs :-

Samsung Galaxy (stright out the box, andriod 2.1).

Belkin N1 wireless router.
wireless channel: 6 (also tried 1 as i read that might help!)
wireless mode: 11b+g+n
bandwidth 20+40mhz
security: WPA + WPA2 (PSK) with TKIP + AES encryption

pleeeeease help as i think this could be a great phone if it wasnt for this.

thanks

stu.

One thing you can try is taking the security off your router and broadcasting the ssid to see if your SGS will connect with no security. If not, do a battery pull and restart and try again. Then put the security back on and leave the SSID broadcasting so your device can find it and try again. It should just ask for the code or phrase.

I'm running my device on a linksys WRT310N router no problem although just with wpa2

sorry, forgot to say, SSID is broadcasting, and the SGS did ask me for the password(psk). I just tried pulling the battery and rebooting phone and modem but its still doing it every time i hit "turn on wifi" on the SGS

temporarily remove your security and see if it will connect. At least it gets you one step closer.

ok will try that.

nope, just tried and still the same with security disabled/just WPA/just WPA2/both WPA + WPA2/64bit WEP and 128bit WEP.

Wifi status on phone just says Disconnected and in the list of Wifi networks, under mine it just says remembered Crying

ok fixed it. im guessing its a incompatibilty issue between SGS and Belkin N1 Vision (or i f***ed up somewhere and dont know what i did: :p

Ended up trying a different router (D Link DIR-615) and alls good now.

Yay, i get to keep the phone Happy
