Hello, im really new into this mobile...and yesterday i wanted to try GPS navigation , so i clicked Navigation in my menu...some window appeared and it says - waiting for position, but after a while , it says - service in not aviable in your area... What does it mean? I tried some GPS tester from android market, and it works ok..

Do you know what to download or adjust ?

Anyway i would prefer some GPS navigation program like had iGo on my HTC...

Thank you

Maybe you had a GPS problem at that moment ? Did you try again after that, waiting a bit longer maybe ? Also, since it's aGPS, having the internet connection open during the initial startup will help the fixing of the satellites.
So just try again. But if you see that while every other programs is working (Tester, Compass, Glympse, Places, Latitude), and Navigation still isn't, then maybe it is indeed limited by country.

Yes, Navigation is limited to certain countries.
In Australia it tells me it is not supported for my location even though i can see my location in the background?!
Any way the phone just defaults to google maps after that, which i think i prefer anyway.
I just use google maps, though the GPS accuracy on my SGS is limited at best.

Good luck...

I stand corrected! i just tried google navigation again and it worked (in Melbourne Australia)!

It definately didn't work fully before, so maybe they are still doing the roll out of locations?

Only other thing i might have changed was downloading GPS STATUS from the market. I used it to download fresh gps data, and my gps worked much better (for a while;) apparently if you refresh this data every now and then it gives you a faster and more accurate gps connection to satellites. it seemed to work for me...

The timing of that did coincide with my navigation starting to work... who knows?

You willing to pay ? Navigon is available for Android, I think it sets you back around 70 euros (Whole Europe map)

Yes, of course, so does WinMos, unless if you're in Singapore or Malaysia, where you can download NAVFone with SinMal maps from Samsung Apps, for free.
