I have an unlocked samsung i9000 and whever I try to make a call it says data network not available and I am unable to send a text or connect to a mobile network.  I have tried it with different sim cards from 3 vodafone and orange none of which work.  The phone was originally orange, the previous owner was using vodafone and the 3 sim card was brand new from the 3 store so all of them should have worked.

I have looked through some of these forums and found that it is happening to people whenever they carry out the restore factory settings function which is what the previous owner of my phone did to protect his personal data.  I have not seen a solution to this problem on any of the forums I have read.

Please help.

Have you checked your data network settings?
WIRELESS AND NETWORK->MOBILE NETWORK
Make sure you have one of the access points selected and that it is complete. Your network carrier should have the details to fill in any blanks and shouldn't charge for the service

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take advantage of having Google on your phone! Save all contacts to GMail and they never get lost, wiped, replaced etc.

Titanium Backup for apps and data. SMS Backup & Restore for messages.

If you have any questions, please do a search before posting a new thread and if you can't find anything, then try to put the new thread into the correct forum.

Yes I've checked the data network settings and they are all correct.  I think that jessicjohnson01 is correct in saying that it's been caused by the restore factory settings function.  Does anybody know how how to fix this problem?
