Hi. I have a rooted Samsung Captivate (SGH-I897) running Android 2.2 that I've been having some trouble with.
Whether I'm using it or not at the time, the phone spontaneously freezes up, I get an error vibration (one buzz followed by three quick buzzes), the screen goes black, then a few minutes later it starts up again (from the point that the home screen first appears, after the Galaxy S logo in a normal start-up) and the same thing happens again a few minutes after that, repeatedly until either the process runs out my battery (which it does very quickly) or I shut the phone off and leave it alone for a while.
I had this problem for one day a few months ago, and it cleared up and didn't come back until a few days ago. The first time, I had popped out the battery to put my SIM card in my old phone, and when I gave the Captivate a try a few hours later, it worked fine. This time, taking out the battery and leaving it alone only solves the issue for a few hours.
Also different this time is that when I start the phone up, I often get an error message stating "Process system is not responding", with the Force Close and Wait options. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary following this message, aside from this issue I've been having, which can appear anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours following the message, depending on how long my phone was left alone before I tried turning it on.
Any insight you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.
