I'm ready to give up on this - and I don't give up easily.  I'm using Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit.  I've downloaded Galaxy-S drivers from numerous places and installed over and over again.  I've opened up the Windows XP Virtual Machine and tried to get it to connect on the VM. No dice under XP either!!  It will connect to XP Pro on other machines here at home.  But my main computer has the files I need to share, and this computer is X64

I just went through the last straw:  On a Google search for this problem, I found Samusung Studio 3 and installed it.  This program is supposed to connect no matter what....and while it was installing, it must have asked for permission to install drivers 20 times!

But alas, I rebooted after the installation and plugged in the phone.  Still no connection.

So I ask, is anyone out there using Windows 7 Pro,  64 bit and successfully connecting to a Galaxy-S from ATT?

Perhaps you are the only one with this combination OR no one else is trying to do this. If you are just transferring files perhaps you can set the SGS to mass storage then plug in, pull down on phone and mount drives. Or you can put on a SD card and transfer to phone that way.

Try the search or check the how to thread before asking a question.

I have windows 7 x64 and yes Kies is glitchy with it.

But I have been able to get it to connect. I did update some drives by doing a google search for them, and I know the issue is if you need to get into your SD card you need to use the pull down menu and "mount SD card"

Wish I could tell you what I did to be exact, but I can't as I'm not sure what I did that is different from what you have tried.

No, it's a driver issue.  The computer can't identify the device, whether I mount the sd card or not.  I do keep trying Mass Storage as a mode - over & over again.

But no matter which driver I use, the phone shows in my computer's Device Manager as a device that's disabled by Windows because no driver is loaded.  From the Device Manager, I can do a Driver Update.  But when I do this, and send it to the folder with the USB drivers in it, Windows reports the best driver is already installed!  Yet it refuses to use it!

I have found four or five different places to get the 64-bit drivers, including Samsung's own website.  But all of them fail for some stupid reason.

I work on computers for a living, and consider myself a Windows expert because I have to be in order to fix these kind of things.  But all I can figure is that I just have not found the right driver to work on this combination, for whatever reason or another.

Does yours connect ALL the time? Wow I'm amazed if it does!  I've gotten rid of Kies and right now am concentrating on getting a device driver that works so that the mounted drive in the phone can be seen in the Windows Explorer.  I figure that once I know Windows can access the device fine, then I'll try reloading Kies again.  I've already tried different versions of Kies too, trying to fix this issue.

I can connect to my SGS SD card thru my computer even if I dont use Kies, on my SGS I goto the "settings, usb settings, mass storage radio button, THEN plug in to computer, them use the pull down menu on the SGS "top task bar??" (not sure what to call it) and click mount sd.

Side note: I disabled the autostart for Kies last night because I read that it and Media player 11 don't play nice together and media player 11 is causeing problems with Kies.

That being said up to last night Kies would never update for me, after the disable autostart I did the "search for updates" on Kies and I found one and it installed, but I have not been able to try it yet.

Can you send me a link to the 64 bit driver you're using?  I don't want Kies; I know how to use Windows to transfer files.  But I need to be able to connect first!

I also can't believe there's that many 64 bit drivers for this darn phone out there.  This one I just installed was at least the fourth one.  Maybe more -and I tried 'em all multiple times.  This one worked fine right away. Happy
